Recommended Posts

Here's a link to 50 Cameo appearances. Among the highlights, Zappa as a drug dealer (Miami Vice),

Ozzy as a preacher raging against Rock Music( Trick or Treat)

Wilko Johnstone as the creepy executioner (Game of Thrones)

Alex as a kidnap victim (Trailer Park Boys)

Eddy Van halen (Two and a half men)

I wonder if anyone else remembers this: Alice Cooper on this ABC mystery drama called The Snoop Sisters, about two elderly women who solve mysteries? I was pretty young, but I remember this on TV.

Mick Fleetwood and Dweezil Zappa in Running Man

In fact, talking of Mick Fleetwood...the weirdest and most pointless cameo ever has to be Mick Fleetwood in the Star Trek TNG episode Manhunt, where he plays a weird fish alien...and doesn't do anything but lie around the whole episode...WTF

I remember Alice in John Carpenter's "Prince of Darkness" - honestly not The Halloween Maestro's finest hour (nickname and review work for them both)

I know this isn't on the list, but I'll add it. There was a movie in the 70s called Electra Glide in Blue with Robert Blake. Some of the members of Chicago made appearances.. Terry Kath, Pete Cetera, Lee Loughnane and Walt Parzaider. One of them may have pulled out a gun at the end and fired it if my memory is correct.

Josh Homme

Paul Simon

Jack White

Jeff Tweedy

Amy Mann

There are more that are slipping my mind...it probably helps that Carrie was a rock star before she was a comedienne.

It wasn't pointless to him. He did it because he was a huge fan of the show, not because he was doing something for his fans.

You're right. Pointless was the wrong word to use.

Aimee Mann was on Portlandia, playing basically herself, working as a housecleaner. The couple she was working for (the two Portlandia people) thought it was so cool that she was Aimee Mann, but still made her do the cleaning.

Aimee Mann also plays herself in an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She plays a couple of her songs at the Bronze, then later complains about playing in vampire towns.

Myles Kennedy had a brief cameo as a manic fan pulled up on stage by his idol in the Mark Wahlberg film Rockstar.

One of my favourite movies!
