The great ROCK lyric verse that PEART should have written...

It just goes to show you how many people were taken in by make up and a stage show.

Not I and I had a couple friends that liked KISS. Pass...

In my defence, I was seven years old..!

Turned on to Rush at about nine or ten and never looked back :)

I was in my late teens and very vulnerable but I went the Rush, AC/DC (Bon version), Yes, UFO, Priest etc route instead...

Those KISS lyrics sound like they could be a young Narp on the prowl...

Narp's a madman, a big baby

And he's lookin' for a sleazy lady

He wants a good lookin' woman who better be good

He was distant, now Narp's nearer

You can see his goaty in her make-up mirror

The lights are out and Narp can feel her backside with his hand

Say what you like but they ROCK and they crafted many catchy rock and metal tunes.

Name one. :)

I could type in a zillion titles but you'd just refute that, so what's the point of me going to the trouble. Your mind is already made up, no need to try and change it.

I was but a lad in the 70s. Close to the perfect age to be completely taken and captivated by the spectacle.

I never understood it myself. I had friends that liked them but their music just didn't appeal to me at all. They were sub-par musicians cashing in on their stage show.

It was a joke. I wasn't really asking for a list. I've heard a lot of Kiss songs but none of them ever struck me as being "catchy". They were nothing more than mediocre, and if hadn't been for their gimmick, they never would have been any more than a bar band.

The fact that you can write lyrics better than Kiss is actually an argument against this thread HA! Touché my friend :D

I'll admit I can listen to 'Rocket Ride' for some reason and 'I was made for Lovin you' and 'Beth' take me back in time the same way Boston's 'More than a Feeling' does..

I never had any connection to Kiss or any of their songs, but hearing More Than A Feeling makes me instantly remember the first time I heard it: I was at my best friend's house and we were in her older brother's room. The album had recently come out and I he was playing it. I've loved that song ever since.

God gave rock and roll to you,

gave rock and roll to you

Put it in the soul of everyone

Do you know what you want? You don't know for sure

You don't feel right, you can't find a cure

And you're gettin' less than what you're lookin' for

You don't have money or a fancy car

And you're tired of wishin' on a falling star

You gotta put your faith in a loud guitar

[Chorus:]

God gave rock and roll to you,

gave rock and roll to you

Gave rock and roll to everyone (oh yeah)

God gave rock and roll to you,

gave rock and roll to you

Put it in the soul of everyone

"Now listen"

If you wanna be a singer, or play guitar

Man, you gotta sweat or you won't get far

Cause it's never too late to work nine-to-five

You can take a stand, or you can compromise

You can work real hard or just fantasize

But you don't start livin' till you realize -

"I gotta tell ya!"

God gave rock and roll to you, gave rock and roll to you

Gave rock and roll to everyone

God gave rock and roll to you, gave rock and roll to you

Put it in the soul

[instrumental break]

God gave rock and roll to you

(to everyone he gave the song to be sung)

Gave rock and roll to you,

gave rock and roll to everyone

God gave rock and roll to you

(to everyone he gave the song to be sung)

Gave rock and roll to you,

saved rock and roll for everyone

Saved rock and roll

chorus repeats out...

"I know life sometimes can get tough!

And I know life sometimes can be a drag!

But people, we have been given a gift,

we have been given a road

And that road's name is... Rock and Roll!"
