La Villa edges Xanadu, maybe because it's a new recording. Seeing either one on TV as a kid would have made my head explode. As it was I saw AFTK on Don Kirshner's Rock Concert and I went blind for three days as a result (going blind in a good way).

I think the production value of Driven is great, but it is a bit hard to watch with all those weird zooms and blurry focus pull things and distortions (I don't know the terms). I would never had imagined that concept paired with that song, especially since the song talks about taking "turns" driving - not drag racing through an industrial complex.

The band Rush is very good. I think we can all agree on that.

Their music video output, is a mixed bag to put it nicely. It turns out their music has just... aged better.

By the way, I'm not talking about concert videos. Just straight up music videos.

Are you a fan of the infamous green screen nightmare that is Time Stand Still? How about the dystopian drag-racing of Driven. Or maybe you are a fan of the nice swan floating on a pond from A Farewell to Kings?

If you need reminding, heres a link to them all in one place:

Also, which one do you think gets the award for most cringe-worthy?

Enjoy the cheese!

I have to confess, I didn't know that half of these videos existed.

So far, Subdivisions is 1st with Afterimage and Headlong Flight as a close 2nd and 3rd on the goose bumps scale for me. Subject to change as I only had time to view about a dozen tonight....

I'm pretty confident that Time Stand Still will end up ranking as the most cringe worthy in my book.

Fun topic---thanks so much.

Countdown for it's realism. Subdivisions a close second.

They are not a video band, although Neil looks good in all of them...

I picked MN, nice reference chart going on there and then The Trees reminder at the end.

I voted for Time Stand Still in an ironic way. It's so bad... so, so, so, *SO* bad... it's good, but for an odd reason. Frankly, it is the epitome of Rush always trying to be cool, but never figuring out how to be, rather than just letting the music stand on it's own and let the video tell the story of the song.

Kind of like fashion, the guys never really figured out the video medium.

PS For a serious vote, I would go with DEW.

Popping back in here, I'm highly disappointed that Time Stand Still with 'drag and drop' Rush is leading the polls.

Yes considering I don't think intentionally funny was the plan. I think saving $500 was the plan.

I really like subdivisions video, very relevant to what happens today still

Yeah, Subdivisions got my vote. I think people might have a tendency just to vote for their favorite song in these instances. If that were the case, then Xanadu would have gotten my vote. And as much as I enjoy that video, it's the guys performing the song. I looked at Subdivisions as them creating a video that was relevant to the lyrics of that song. They really captured it there.

First of all...none of them are actually good. The Big Money I think is alright, but the best Rush video is Supercoductor :coffee:

Yup, except Subdivisions they're all cheesy and odd! The band was always too focused on music and just hired whoever to do the videos. I wouldn't be surprised if most were produced by Ged and Al's kids actually!

That said, Driven is my favorite!! :)

The Superconductor video is the most embarrassing thing they've ever done.

And that includes recording Half the World. It sucks that much.

I literally CANNOT bring myself to watch past the bridge kicking in and the crowd swaying like hippies. Thing is, I can kinda see what they were going for.

I like the black & white movie star footage though.
