Andy Wood died 25 years ago today. For those who arent familiar he was the lead singer of the grunge band "mother love bone". Jeff Ament and Stone Gossard were in that band who then went on to create Pearl Jam.

Temple of the Dog (half pearl jam and half soundgarden) formed and did 1 album as a tribute to Andy.

Also, the song "far behind" by candelbox was written about andy too. His life was a major contributor to the formation of grunge.

I'n not a lover of Seattle grunge scene (I only really like some early albums - 'Ten', 'Badmotorfinger' and 'Temple of the Dog'), but I find Mother Love Bone's 'Apple' a great kickass R'n'R record!

March 21, 2015

Thanks to my research into U.S. Census records, immigrant ship passenger manifests (and checking a few maps of Italy), I totally destroyed a 70-year old myth about my family history. It seems that the notion of my father's family coming from Northern Italy was totally WRONG.

We're from the South. The old man is most definitely screaming and rolling in his urn right now.....

Actually, we can now brag about our "homeland" of Campania being greatly prized by the Romans for its fertile land and great vacation spots..... :D :D

I went to use the bank machine across from the student residence on campus. I saw two police cars, lots of yellow tape all over the place, and a TV news truck. Then I knew something terrible happened. I checked the website of our local paper and found out someone died there last night. Trying to let it go since it has nothing to do with me. Not having much luck with that. So much for having a nice quiet weekend of catching up on homework.

2014 – Turtle Canyon is opened in Newport, Kentucky.

I will be going to see the turtles this fall! :sundog:

Newport is my hometown, and it is absolutely AMAZING how the city has renovated the riverfront over the years. When I was living down there, the riverfront was a wasteland. It was nothing. Nowadays, Newport On The Levee gives the Cincinnati side a LOT of competition for fun things to do. IMAX, the Aquarium, lots of shops and restaurants and pubs. It's GREAT.

There are a few buildings downtown that still have markers on them, showing where the water level was in their respective locations during the flood.
