  1. 1. What do you think of Territories?

    • I just love the song!
    • It's okay.
    • One of the worst songs Rush ever did.

I do admit it is a far cry from Hemispheres. Wouldn't you all agree?

It's 5 albums after Hemispheres. I would hope it's significantly different.

I think what I was trying to say is that it is hard to believe that a band that could do Hemispheres was capable of Territories. :)

Why is that?

2 excellent songs that happen to be very different.

she likes them both, and has said that.

I think it's also pretty hard to believe that they could go from style to style like that and usually pull it off successfully.

For myself, I wouldn't put them on the same level at all. Territories is a frivolous song. Hemispheres is heavy.

yeah, I could have never heard territories and my life would be the exact same. without hemispheres you'd all be talking about rush without me!

I'm sure "I love it" will win on a board dedicated to the most hardcore of Rush fans.

I can remember what the entire song sounds like. the same can't be said for more than 6 or 7 of their 90s tunes. so it has that going for it. :)

I thought it was an 80's tune?...

I was just attacking the 90s for led

And that is always something worth doing...

when I first listened to a rush album in 2008 or 2009, I actually liked the first album and fly by night more than moving pictures for like, a week or two.

Geddy introduces it as their "dancing song" on one of the bootlegs I have.

I guess it's a tribute to their musical genius and talent that they were capable of pulling off a song like Territories without it destroying their career.

How well did the next two albums sell?

You know what? It doesn't matter. Here we are at the end of the Rush road, and I know that many here are paying thousands of dollars to see them one last time for as many times on this tour as they can.

So, in the long run, it didn't hurt them at all.

Album sales don't always effect the strength of the material. Almost every band that has had good album sales and has been around for a long time experiences a dip in sales at some point and Rush is no different. No band, no matter how good they are can be active for as long as Rush has and maintain selling gold and platinum records each time out. That just isn't possible in the music world. I'm not denying that the synth era didn't turn away a lot of fans but it's not the only major reason their album sales went down like you believe it to be.

Maybe you ought to give the song a quick listen and then come back and cast your vote. :)

I took your advice, and my vote has been cast
