Recently Narp started a thread about pulling out his old stereo and vinyl so he cold enjoy them again. Well, He inspirred me to pull this out of mothballs after being stored for about 15 years;

Every component shown in the pictuture, including the stand, is over 30 years old. The only exception is the CD player. It is only about 15 years old. About 75% of the bottom of the cabinet is filled with my vinyl.

This is my Sansui G9000 receiver. I bought it new in 1980. I had a local Vintage Electronics expert "refurbish" it. It is like new inside and out. Most important, it still sounds new! It is 160 watts per channel and weighs 60 lbs. This thing makes music sound like your there listening to it live. I have a "respectable" set of speakers hooked up to it but plan to get a set of Magnapan MMGs' as soon as the tax refund gets here. Originally, I drove a set of Infinity Column II speakers with it. The small Sony box on top is a bluetooh receiver.

Here is my Sony PS-LX510 Linear Tracking Turntable. I bought it new in 1982. It has an Audio Technica AT-152LP Cartridge in it. A $3.00 belt brought this back to life!

This is my Sony CD player and Teac 450 cassette deck. This cassette deck was also recenltly cleaned and serviced and sounds awesome. Very, very close to a CD. Not bad for a 40 year old unit!

Thanks for the inspiration Narp. I am trully enjoying listening to this stuff again.

:cheers: My friend. Glad I could help in some way. I did notice to that you appear to have RTB hanging on the wall which seems a perfect place for it :LOL: . Love all the cool Rush stuff hanging around as well. Looks like somebody could use a set of bobbleheads though :LOL: . Again thanks for the love my friend and I think I will see you in Atlanta... :) Edited by Narpsberg

My original cassette deck in upstairs too in my sons closet. I'll have to break that puppy out and at least place it in the cabinet with the rest of my stuff. I have nothing to play on it but it will look cool just sitting there anyway.... :)

I've been thinking about buying an old NAD Casette Player lately. They're like dirt cheap and I only have one tape. But perhaps it's a tape where I have recorded myself as a child. For some reason I did that a lot :P

But it's nice seeing the old turntables and stereos being brought back to life. :)

That's really nice. Some quality stereo components you've got there. I used to have a really nice Sony turntable but I pitched it when I moved. I kind of wish I'd kept it now.

Looks flippin' great, John!

I'm proud to always have my turntable at the ready, but I don't have a set-up anything like what you do. Awesome. :ebert:

What do you listen to your 5.1s and blu rays on?

Ha

I do have a 5.1 system in the living room. I set this up in my office. It can't touch the sound of this for music. Doesn't even come close.

Sorry if I'm hijacking your thread, but at least it is in the spirit of rediscovering the passion of music :)

I borrowed a walkman so I could listen to the casette tape I mentioned. It's probably 15+ years old so the sound wasn't exactly audiophile, but nevertheless I heard something new as opposed to vinyl and mp3. So I think the medium has possibilities. I had recorded Joe Cocker's Unchain My Heart album, there was a blazing Purple Haze cover by a band I don't know, something that sounded like Van Halen and the voice of my mother and I :LOL:
