If you speed Every Breath You Take up there is a match with the verse of New World Man.

Hmm, I just realized a little bit ago that New World Man preceded Every Breath You Take. So...who might be influencing whom, there? :)

Maybe neither. But you're right, I do hear a little bit of similarity, when I think about it.

I cannot. And there's no bigger Police fan than I.

Still, I find it interesting there are so many Rush fans who hear it...yet so FEW Rush fans who listen to the Police. :)

I think the best part of this argument is that Mr Squalen is arguing that the influence and similar sound is not in Rush's music when one of the guys that wrote the actual music (Alex Lifeson, just so there is no confusion as to who I am referring to) said those influences are in their music.

Alex is on record at the time stating that Andy Summers and Allan Holdsworth were big influences during the early 80's. All the regae influenced stuff on Signals and GUP (as well as Vital Signs) is directly in response to the Police. The Police opened for Rush at Pink Pop in 79.

Indeed there isn't. There is no negligible Police nuances in Rush's music. Nobody has successfully emulated the Police, they're one of a kind and smart outfits don't even try.

The closest Rush ever got to actual reggae fusion was Working Man live on the last two tours.

i hear it in Signals and all over p/g........that's me though.  Which is why i dislike p/g.  it's not the whole album but it's there.  I don't really like the style.  it's even on MP.

LOL, Rush nerds.

You guys would have a rough time on the mass hard rock boards.  :)

Cygnus, you were right. All they needed was the history buzzword and they bit.  I owe you ten bucks. Fair and square. A bet's a bet. I honestly didn't think they'd feed as much.

Wow, you're annoying.

LOL. Or it was a test. Which my wallet has to admit...reluctantly....most of you failed.

Oh, we HAVE failed you. Our hearts are heavy, but we bow to your wisdom. Will you be our overseer? We will base our lives on your teachings.

That's not necessary. But you can cover my losses in the wager if you like. :)
