I heard part of an interview coach Jim Tomsula today...I'm worried this season may be a dumpster fire. Draft day can't come soon enough.

Tomsula has probably been busy organising his next porn shoot... :16ton:

1.9 yards per carry for 467 yards on the season...WHOO-HOO!

But if you count lateral and backwards yardage he'll break 2000!

Chris Borland retires after one season

When linebacker Patrick Willis unexpectedly retired last week, some 49ers fans took solace in the presence of linebacker Chris Borland, who had a stellar rookie season.

Now, Borland is retiring, too.

Via ESPN’s Outside The Lines, Borland says he’s calling it quits after one season due to concerns over the long-term impact of head injuries.

“I just honestly want to do what’s best for my health,” Borland said. “From what I’ve researched and what I’ve experienced, I don’t think it’s worth the risk. . . .

“I feel largely the same, as sharp as I’ve ever been, for me it’s wanting to be proactive. I’m concerned that if you wait [until] you have symptoms, it’s too late. . . . There are a lot of unknowns. I can’t claim that ‘X’ will happen. I just want to live a long healthy life, and I don’t want to have any neurological diseases or die younger than I would otherwise.”

Borland said it wasn’t an easy decision, given his success last year.

“I’ve thought about what I could accomplish in football, but for me personally, when you read about Mike Webster and Dave Duerson and Ray Easterling, you read all these stories and to be the type of player I want to be in football, I think I’d have to take on some risks that as a person I don’t want to take on,” Borland said.

Borland said he believed he suffered a concussion in training camp, but he played through it because he wanted to make the team. As the season progressed, he became more concerned about the issue.

As a third-round pick in 2014, Borland signed a four-year contract with a $617,436 signing bonus. The 49ers have the right to recover 3/4ths of that amount ($463,077).

Borland joins linebacker Jason Worilds and quarterback Jake Locker as players who have retired in the past week under the age of 30.

This is huge.

Borland has not made enough to be comfortable for life. He's known for being the type of overachiever who has given all he has to get where he is, realizing his lifetime dream. Now he retires due to the risk to his health after one year of getting paid (and about 12 years of learning his craft with only a degree (presumably) to show for it. This is very sobering.

The latest chapter in a story the NFL doesn't like. ESPN will be doing "deep coverage" all day.

As for the 49ers the hits keep on rolling. :(

This quote was too funny not to share. Funny yet so sad for me. :(

Something more than what's on the surface. It's as if everyone capable of heading for the escape pods is indeed leaving.

Torrey Smith? Good player. Reggie Bush, who the 49ers also signed? He's 800 years old.

Any thoughts on Jarryd Hayne making the team as a H Back?

Well I'd be interested in YOUR thoughts. Obviously it's big news down here - Hayne was just about the biggest name in rugby league which is the most popular sport in Sydney. He seems a really cool, salt-of-the-earth type, and when he announced what he was doing ('cause he has bought his mum a house, so, you know, what else does he need) pretty much everyone wished him the best. No snarkiness at all.

Having said that, not many think he can make it. What do you reckon?

I don't really know enough aboot his game to say. Without going into a lot of detail I doubt the 49ers did this as a publicity stunt.

Here's another one to add to the list. Looks like this whole team is retiring!

49ers’ Anthony Davis retires at age 25

The 49ers have once again lost a player to a surprise retirement.

Anthony Davis, a 25-year-old offensive tackle who was the 11th overall pick in the 2010 NFL draft, said in a statement that he is retiring from football.

“After a few years of thought, I’ve decided it will be best for me to take a year or so away from the NFL. This will be a time for me to allow my Brain and Body a chance to heal. I know many won’t understand my decision, that’s ok,” Davis said. “I hope you too have the courage to live your life how you planned it when day dreaming to yourself growing up. Your Life is Your dream and you have the power to control that dream. Im simply doing what’s best for my body as well as my mental health at this time in my life.”

Davis had started every game for all five of his NFL seasons until last year, when he missed nine games during an injury-plagued season. Of particular concern was a late-season concussion which had lingering symptoms.

The 49ers have also lost Chris Borland, Patrick Willis and Justin Smith to retirements this offseason.

Would you risk your health to block for Kap?

I'd probably change teams and try and hit him myself! :D-13:

The team is not going to be as bad as people think. I'm putting it here now, if I am wrong I will eat this thread lol.
