Jaminbenb
What band replaces Rush as the "must see" group if they come close? (which sort of sucks because a lot of bands don't hit the local-ish markets in my area)
JohnRogers
What band replaces Rush as the "must see" group if they come close? At my age probably none...maybe Neil Diamond.

rocket ignites
Nada. Rush was my one "must see". Local market for me means country acts and casino gigs...blah.
Disembodied Spirit
Saw Kiss and Def Lep last year. It was good, but I don't have the passion with any band like Rush.So honestly with the crappy music that has been produced in the last 20 years, I will be done too.I mean look if I am AT a casino and Styx is playing, I would go, but I would not actively pursue tickets to ANY other band.Fun Fact: I sort of want to see the Filipino Steve Perry fronting Journey just to be amazed
ytserush
Nobody. Ticketbastard/Jive Nation can suck it because that means I'm done with them too.
Jaminbenb
I have to admit that a band like Umphrey's McGee coming close may spur me on to drive a little...Other than that, not too much...most of my "must see's" are all retired already! (Pink Floyd and any of their personnel, Yes is pretty much done unless Jon or Rick comes back, and I don't see ELP doing round three!) Sad day in music if this IS true... if you ask me!
coventry
Lots of artists: Phish, Umphreys, The Yellowjackets, The National, Jaime Cullum, War on Drugs, Mars Volta, Chris Issak, etc. There's always good, quality music out there to be enjoyed. Lest I sound pollyanna and pompous, of those listed above, only Phish will bring me to the emotional level that Rush does; the rest are various stages of enjoyment and appreciation and "must sees" in their own right.
EagleMoon
I would agree about none. I can't think of a single band that is touring today that I would have to see. I would still like to see Kansas (even though they're doing the casino thing and that seems wrong to me) but it wouldn't be mandatory.

fraroc
The real bands might not last forever, but tribute bands will always there. I've met some great people at Van Halen tribute shows, AC/DC tribute bands, you name it....And you gotta appreciate tribute bands that put all the effort into making it an authentic experience. WorkingAllTheTime
I have been fortunate to knock quite a few artists off my list in recent years, so I am most likely done. And, truth be told, the final few that are left might be better be left on the list. One of the music tastes I got from my family elders is an appreciation for folk. One of my earliest musical memories was cranking a gramophone and listening to Woody Guthrie with my grandmother. At the time I didn't understand how old that piece of equipment, let alone the media was. Obviously, I never got to see Woody Guthrie play, but the family connection to folk stuck. One of the favorite family artists was Gordon Lightfoot. Over the years, I had a variety of opportunities to see him live, but passed. Then, last year, he came through San Antonio and I realized I needed to see him if I wanted to get that name off the list. The show was actually quite wonderful. His band is talented and it was one of the more cleanly played shows I can remember in a long time. Likewise, I enjoyed the songs on the set. The one drawback was old Gordon's voice wasn't nearly what it once was. If I could describe his voice in a word it would be "terrible". I am not knocking him. The man was 75 years old and on stage. I am actually quite appreciative of the fact that he even gave me the opportunity to see him. But, still, if given the opportunity to go back and pass it up.... I might do it. I fear the artists I still have on my list are closer to Gordon than they are to their prime. This, of course, means I am old. Was spinning one of his Songbook cd's today, as a matter of fact.
geezer
even though the void left wouldn't be refillable, it's plenty of good bands to spend an evening after all; to name one that could recall "very very somehow" something familiar, I'd go for Coheed And Cambria. Digital Dad
Tool What did you call me? Ha No seriously, there is nobody. I used to see a ton of Phish shows, but that scene sucks. Frankly I am at a point where I'm just not that interested in seeing bands anymore. Rush is playing like an hour away from me (San Jose, CA), and I'm really not that psyched about making the trip.

LittleRushmonkey
We'll Fair to Midland are split up (and that would only pay in America anyway) so I guess it has to be Dream Theater now. No band can ever replace :rush: though. Edited February 8, 2015 by LittleRushmonkey
