Didn't you guys all you guys who want Suh call him dirty for the last 4 years!??

Suh's a dirty player, there's no doubt. Like I said, I'd rather not get him than overpay him.

Maybe you can get Reggie instead, bring him back home...?

No thanks!

Report: Lions hope Suh “comes to his senses”

The Dolphins reportedly will sign defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh on Tuesday. But that doesn’t mean the Lions have given up on keeping they guy they acquired with the second pick in the 2010 draft.

“[They] can’t finalize until Tuesday,” a Lions source told Josina Anderson of ESPN.com. “We will hope he comes to his senses.”

The Lions are right on the first part. Despite Chris Mortensen’s report that the deal will happen, no deal can happen before Tuesday. As one media source has pointed out, the mere existence of the report that Suh will sign with the Dolphins becomes the first time since the NFL adopted the three-day legal tampering period that a report of a deal with a new team has emerged as hard “this will happen” news.

In theory, Suh can stiff arm the Dolphins and return to the Lions. He wouldn’t be reneging, since there’s technically no agreement that he’d be ignoring. And the Lions think that, between now and Tuesday, they can change his mind.

“[The] key is playing for coach [Jim] Caldwell and Teryl [Austin],” the source told Anderson. “Plus good players around him. Can’t get that there.”

It’s a bold move for the unnamed Lions source to insult the Dolphins. Sure, Detroit made it to the playoffs this year, beating Miami by a mere four points along the way. But as overall organizations go, the Lions have pitched a tent in roughly the same band of competitive mediocrity where the Dolphins have resided for years.

It’s also a bold (and foolish) move to provoke Suh by suggesting that he’s out of his mind to want to play in Miami. Maybe if their Lions had come to their senses and offered Suh a year ago whatever they’re willing to offer at a time when Suh has one foot out the door and the other one in the air and crossing the threshold, it never would have gotten to the point where Detroit’s only strategy is to hope Suh’s definition of sanity is to choose less money in a state with no income tax or palm trees.

Who is this moronic "Lions source"? Matt Millen?

Anyway, it's over with Suh and the Lions now need to figure out what they're going to do at DT. This doesn't have to destroy their defense. They still have a great coordinator and plenty of talented players.

Ravens trade defensive tackle Haloti Ngata to the Lions

d8b910ac86e84c6edef3c8123348081a-e1385140752798.jpg?w=250

The Lions lost out on Ndamukong Suh, but they’ve added a name nearly as big.

According to Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun, the Ravens have traded Haloti Ngata to the Lions. The Ravens have confirmed the move.

Ngata refused to take a pay cut from the Ravens, and falls in with a team that has some space, since they didn’t make Suh the highest-paid defensive player in the league.

This is a huge move for the Lions, who were running out of defensive tackles, but creates a void in the middle of the Ravens Defense.

I just heard that the Lions gave up a 4th, 5th and 7th for him. Good trade for the Lions imo. He's not Suh but he's damn good.

Lions will move on from Nick Fairley

The Lions used back-to-back high first-round draft picks on defensive tackles in the 2010 and 2011 NFL drafts. Now both of those defensive tackles are on the way out.

It’s been widely reported that the Lions’ 2010 first-round pick, Ndamukong Suh, will sign with the Dolphins. And now comes word that the Lions’ 2011 first-round pick, Nick Fairley, will leave as well.

Although Fairley hasn’t found his new home, the Lions have decided they will move on from Fairley, according to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press. That will come as a surprise to some, but it shouldn’t: As soon as the Lions declined to pick up the fifth-year option on Fairley’s rookie contract, it was just a matter of time before they moved on.

With both Suh and Fairley gone (and last year’s third defensive tackle, C.J. Mosley, also possibly leaving in free agency), the Lions will have to significantly re-shape their defensive front. One option is shifting to a 3-4 defense, which could make sense with newly acquired Haloti Ngata.

In any event, it’s clear that the Lions’ defense will look a whole lot different in 2015 than it looked in 2014.

Lions get a fifth from Bucs for George Johnson and a seventh

The Lions didn’t want to tender George Johnson at a level that would have gotten them compensation, but they still ended up getting compensated.

The Lions announced the terms of the deal to drop their dispute and trade Johnson to the Buccaneers.

According to Tim Twentyman of the team’s official website, the Lions will get a fifth-round pick from the Buccaneers in exchange for Johnson and a seventh-rounder acquired from the Ravens going to Tampa Bay.

That allows the Lions to restock a bit, after giving up a fourth and a fifth to Baltimore in exchange for nose tackle Haloti Ngata and that seventh earlier this offseason.

They worked the deal out before the hearing over the disputed terms of the offer sheet, allowing them to get something out of the deal.

Johnson had 6.0 sacks last year for the Lions, and the Bucs had cap space to burn, so it was an easy deal for them to make. And giving up a pick allows them to get the player they wanted without the risk of the independent arbitrator siding with the Lions.

December 27th I have the 49ers beating Detroit.

What with Ron Jeremy in charge? :16ton:

One suspects that there will be no posts from Niner fans after about mid to late October.

Former Saints wide receiver Lance Moore signs with Lions for one-year deal

The Detroit Lions continue to become New Orleans Saints North as they signed wide receiver Lance Moore to a one-year contract, the Lions announced Tuesday.

Moore links up with Lions offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi as the two worked together for several years in New Orleans. The Steelers recently released the 31-year-old veteran wideout in March.

The 10-year veteran made his mark in New Orleans where he helped build the Saints into one of the most potent offenses in the NFL. Moore landed on the Saints' practice squad in 2005, and landed on the Saints' 53-man roster in 2006.

Moore became a fixture in New Orleans' passing game for 2006-2013. He caught 346 passes for 4,281 yards and 38 touchdowns in his nine seasons in New Orleans. He's most known for his acrobatic two-point conversion in Super Bowl XLIV.

Stafford says Lions’ line is better than before, “like night and day”

Posted by Michael David Smith on May 15, 2015, 12:09 PM EDT

The Lions added three offensive linemen during the NFL draft, and Matthew Stafford couldn’t be happier.

After Detroit used its first-round pick on guard Laken Tomlinson, acquired guard Manny Ramirez in a trade with the Broncos and then spent its seventh-round pick on tackle Corey Robinson, Stafford said he thinks there’s a lot more talent in front of him than there used to be.

“Since the week before the draft, to the week after, it was like night and day,” Stafford told MLive.com. “We just have so many more bodies, and so many more guys who are capable of playing well.”

The Lions have invested a lot in surrounding Stafford with offensive talent, and Stafford seems to appreciate that. The Lions have also invested a lot in Stafford, who has cap hits of $17.7 million this year and $22.5 million next year. Now it’s time for Stafford to deliver.

RIP

The Detroit Lions say Hall of Fame tight end Charlie Sanders has died at age 68. the Associated Press reports.

Sanders, who played from 1968 through 1977, died Thursday from cancer. He spent 43 years with the Lions as a player, assistant coach, scout and radio broadcaster.

Lions President Tom Lewand says Sanders was "one of the greatest Detroit Lions of all time." Only late owner William Clay Ford was associated with the team for more years.

Sanders was elected in 2007 to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He made 336 catches over his career, a team record that would stand for 20 years until Herman Moore passed him.

Still pull for lions and really hope they do something this year.

I must be honest not sure they will be good this year. However you never really know with the lions!

If defense can be consistent , we have a chance

I think their chances will ultimately hinge on how consistent Stafford can be.

For some reason i think stafford will have a good year.

Not sure why, i just do...
