I gotta get my work published then I'll be able to share some of the photos I took last night. Overall not super pleased about the results, fighting a camera body and three lenses I never used before was a bit much to get in order for only being allowed to shoot the first two songs. Not much went as planned Week before,My car breaks, bad alternator , unexpected $ 300.00 -My buddy backs out of RUSH road trip, not too surprising , but still, annoying My car picked up a screw in tire & tried fixing, failed, replaced tire, Another $$ hit Day before,Arrive in Vegas & car stall's & fails on the Las Vegas Strip ! AAA Towed my Soul to an unfamiliar repair shop in VegasFinish checking in hotel via cab.... finish business part of trip via cabCar-less & NEED to get home by 7pm Monday for my MEET/GREET in back in Phoenix ! !Car damage is bad Fuel Pump, dealer item only, $ 700.00 ready Saturday about 4pm, just hours from RUSH Day of, ( Things do get better ! )Get a nice lower bowl isle seat from MGM Grand concierge @ "Face Value" for tonight's show Couldn't loose money @ the casino, everything I played I won money's .......Pick up Soul late Saturday afternoon & headed to MGMMGM Vegas is a great place to see RUSH, so many enthusiastic fans everywhereEverybody is over the top Rush crazy @ this show, place goes ballistic with opening song !Everybody is in G R E A T spirits except the lady usher @ my section, what a tyrant ! ( her co-worked usher, just the opposite, Happy ! ) After-show,@ the Las Vegas MGM Grand, WOW ! That is one happening Casino, Best visual's ever.When I left @ 3am, the place was still in full party mode ! Back in Phoenix, Ready for tonight's M/G & Rock Concert ( 12 hours away ! ) ......................... One of the worst things about the whole thing was not getting to meet some of the folks here at TRF. The Cosmo really handled our stay badly. I understand the fire was beyond their control, but almost everything else that happened afterward was entirely their doing. Check-in took forever, given that everyone was let back into the casino at the same time. I waited in line for almost an hour, only to experience a domino effect of snafus from then on. First; I had booked the Wraparound Terrace for the gathering. When I arrived they told me I had booked the Terrace Suite. A nice room for a family, but not big enough for a party. I had checked my confirmation info the day I had booked the room months before, and everything was in order. When I went back to my email to show them I had booked the bigger suite, the said email was nowhere to be found. WTF??? They then told me I had booked the room for two nights, not one. They assured me that if I checked out by 11 on Sunday morning I wouldn't be charged for the second night. So, Sunday morning I dutifully waited in line, made the 11am deadline, only to be told that the booking was made through Marriott as a two night package and there was nothing they could do to refund the second night. This was a big red flag, because I don't belong to the Marriott program. It would have been impossible for me to book through the Marriott program. By this time my blood pressure was rising, but I kept my cool and calmly argued my position with the associate manning the desk. As I stood there trying to reconcile myself with the fact that I was going to be paying for an expensive room that I wasn't going to be staying in, the associate spotted the hotel manager and called him over for a quiet conference about my situation. A few minutes later she returned and said that they would refund my second night. Huh? Just a few minutes earlier she had asserted there was absolutely nothing that could be done because my reservation had been booked through Marriott. Had she been lying just to get rid of me? In summary, I was very disappointed with my entire experience at the Cosmo, which was a shame, because the hotel itself is very nice. Needless to say, I won't be staying there again. We were looking forward to the get together, it seemed like a much better idea than just meeting at a random bar. Show was great though and hopefully they do a smaller your sometime down the road. The worst part is that I've never seen a venue that will even let you bring your camera gear to your seat to continue shooting, would have loved to grab a bunch of full stage shots, laser beams and al that!
