They should never have ditched vinyls. Wish I still had mine. Glad you are enjoying yours, Narps.

You might be able to get a good price for Mrs. Narpski's Police album on ebay.

I would rather give it away to someone who would really enjoy it....

I am re-stoked!! I finally got enough money together to get a second hand receiver so I can resume my vinyl journey. I bought it from a super nice guy local in Myrtle Beach. Its an Onkyo like my old one only has more power and is a bit more modern  . He also was nice enough to sell me a nice sounding set of speakers for 10 bucks. I offered him 20 but he wouldn't take it. Now I have a pair of A & B speakers that sound good so for 50 bucks I am set for now.

Woohoo!! There are still some nice folks in this world... :dweez: :codger:

I wanted to get a pair of Klipsch speakers about that same size a couple of months ago, but they were $250. I ended up getting a pair of Infinity for free! (They were hand-me-downs, but in great condition).

Mine were 150.00 at best buy but I swear they don't sound any better to the naked (novice) ear than the pair I got today for 10 bucks.... :codger:  This is them. They are Acoustic Research....

Apparently so. I never would have gotten the Klipsch had I known then what I know now. The Klipsch's are better I am sure but not 140.00 better especially to a poor man...

Outstanding, my friend, outstanding! :notworthy:

I'm planning of making a corner of my room into a listening lounge, just like you did. Glad you rediscovered vinyl and welcome back. Now everything will sound better.

It does. I can't wait to buy a few albums again. That will be exciting. It won't be like the old days riffling through the bins at the record store but it will still be cool when Amazon delivers them.... :)

You should treat yourself a visit to a record store. The charm of browsing through the records, finding a gem, talking with likeminded and generally the vibe. Sometimes holding an old record thinking about the journey it's been on is great.

Or better yet try your local thrift stores. Pickin's can be slim and sometimes it's matter of timing, being the first one there when records hit the shelf. Even though "they" say vinyl is making a come back not everyone has caught on. Most places LPs are a buck or two, sometimes even less. I paid .50¢ for copy of Stevie Ray Vaughan's "Soul to Soul" that's near mint!

Awesome setup, very similar to mine. Just inherited 100-200 old records from my dad's former record store. I've been exploring them since. Hope your store doesn't charge too much for new vinyl. The one I used in Buffalo used to charge like $40 for something I can find online for $20 brand new.

:bump: A post by request from my bud troutman. My new to me but original copy of this Chicago box sent he just sent me. Live from Carnegie Hall. I think its time to give it a listen. Its 4 albums worth it may take some time to get through it all. Thanks again my brother...

That is an awesome live album from start to finish- all material from their first three albums (because that was all they had, up to that point- but they are three fantastic double albums)...the Carnegie Hall box was recorded April 5-10, 1971, for anyone keeping track of that kind of thing...vintage = :haz:
