Hi all, haven't posted here in a long time, but I'm back! :D

I was just going over Rush's live albums/DVDs since Rush in Rio was released in 2003, and they've been rather prolific in that regard. I was wondering what you all thought their best live album/DVD has been since Rush's "comeback"?

My vote: either Snakes and Arrows Live (2008)), or Time Machine: Live in Cleveland (2011). Both great performances, great sound, and great setlists, IMO, of course! :) I think I'll give the edge to Snakes and Arrows, though.

I like the songs and the energy on R30, but I think S&N is a better DVD. It's almost a tie for different reasons but R30 slightly edges it out.

Yeah it has the covers, I didn't think about that. But I do like the acoustic sections regardless.

It's really a tie between snakes and R30.

I just picked R30.

Mick

Could you do a quick rundown of your opinion on the vocals on these 5 recordings please? I would really be curious to know and some other fine members might as well... Thanks Edited by Narpski

By Request.

Vocals

Rio-I have no problems here. This May be the last DVD he was in near perfect form. His vocal swan song to me.

R30- Still very Good. Nothing i can complain about. Every word is still clear as a bell. The Oh yea in TSOR is a little giggle inducing though, lol

Snakes- Good. He's starting to slide if you really pay Attention. Strains on a few notes. Still no garbled words yet though.

TM- SIGH........the turn. I know he was sick but damn. He seemingly forgot how to form words. And the yodeling has begun. Barely hitting notes too. Time Stands Still made me cry.

CA tour- The yodeling has become more pronounced. and if i didn't know lyrics. I'd be lost, lol. I'd be embarrassed to watch this around friends.

When I picked up the DVD and watched it for the first time my sister was with me. She's not really familiar with Rush and she said several times she couldn't understand what he was singing.

We have the benefit of being fans but outsiders it's like..eh...WHAT?!

That CA dvd is so sad. I can't even look at the box. It's a shame......cause CA tour had one of my fav setlists.

Yeah I feel the same way. I so looked forward to that coming out and it was such a let down. My sister is a singer so she automatically focused in on the vocals. I still don't understand how they did let something like that be released. Between the sound and video editing it just sucks.

Rush In Rio. The buildup to the show combined with the energy makes this an instant classic.

I'm with you. I love Rush In Rio for many reasons. Not the least of which it was their comeback, and there is a real affinity and camaraderie among them, especially between Neil and Alex, on Rio.

The Rio DVD would be great if the picture wasn't cropped off and and better quality. The best thing about it is the energetic audience.

Oh really? I haven't watched it in a long time so the main things I remembered were the grainy picture and square format.
