I've never been quick to accept the notion that Rush's first album is a Zeppelin clone or whatever.  I suppose it makes sense given Lifeson's admiration of Page, but beyond some of the riffs, I actually perceive a very different style - more upbeat, more lively, more energetic.  Whatever the similarities might be, I find it in the end very distinctive.  Here Again is an underrated classic, too.  So I'm with Narpski.

^^^^ This in bold for sure. I cannot understand how anyone can listen to that song objectively and not think it is wonderful. I can understand maybe not liking some of the simple (for them) songs but Finding My Way, Working Man, Before And After, What Your Doing and the aforementioned Here Again are great. Just my opinion....

Caress of Steel is definitely in my top 5. Rush and Fly By Night bore me a little but they're not terrible.

I'm going with Fly By Night.  I always think that album has never gotten the love it deserves, and Rivendell and In The End are two strong songs that overshadow The Fountain of Lamneth for me.

I would listen to the The Speed of Love ten times in a row before I'd listen to Rivendell once.

It's a Rush lullaby. It's target group was insomniacs.

Except for The Weapon. That makes everything else ok...

At least Speed of Love has some real musicianship and an ok bridge and solo.

Rivendell is just some elf sitting on a log and finger-plucking.

Is RIvendell even really a Rush song?

It's just Geddy playing right? Alex sat that one out didn't he? (And probably demanded it).

Well it does have Neil's (unfortunate) lyrics.

I will say it has some of Neil's most uninspired drumming...

Alex plays the electric swells in the background

There is electric guitar in the background behind the acoustic playing the ambient volume swells. I would think that's probably Alex.
