Counterparts is a pretty solid album. Speed of Love and Everyday Glory aren't great Rush songs, but they are good songs. Put them on a Goo Goo Dolls album and they are the best songs they ever wrote. Everything else is good to great.

Mr. Digi Dad, Everyday Glory is a Rush classic.

Much love and cupcakes, but unless you want minted tobasco frosting on your next treat, I warn thee to type properley.

"...and Everyday Glory aren't great Rush songs." I agree on the first. That one is merely excellent. But EG not great? IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE!

Hopefully you love Toto so I shall keep my eye on you...huehuehue

IMHO their best overall album since Grace Under Pressure.  Ranks:

1)Animate (one of their greatest tunes, ever)
2)Cut to the Chase
3)Cold Fire
4)Double Agent
5)Leave That Thing Alone
6)Alien Shore
7)Stick It Out
8)Everyday Glory
9)Speed of Love
10)Between Sun & Moon
11)Nobody's Hero (the only song I skip)

Aside from Stick It Out, I really enjoy this whole album. But for me it has the worst flow of any Rush release.

But it has Cold Fire and that is a top ten song for me. As is Everyday Glory.

I just don't enjoy this record at all.  Used to like some tunes that have fallen away now ........Example of having great production.  but some of the worst material ever.  Leave that thing along is great though. Cold fire is annoyingly catchy despite the fact i hate it. lol

but in my worst group for sure.

Songs I like:
Animate (easily the best song on here to me)
Cold Fire
Leave That Thing Alone
Double Agent
Cut to the Chase

I don't like these but if I have to rank them:
Between Sun & Moon
Nobody's Hero
Alien Shore
Everyday Glory
Stick It Out

This is a great album. I don't even mind The Speed of Love. While being the only song worthy of the skip button, it would be one of the best tunes on their previous effort following Bravado and Dreamline.

There's a great EP hiding somewhere in Counterparts... it's a shame that there's such a quantity of filler clogging it up. I've put about half of CP and half of T4E on a CD, and it's much better than any of their post-HYF releases bar VTR...

I think the sound and the production was what is meant by "classic sounding Rush" and I get that. It has nothing to do with the great epics obviously....

I think about half of the album is good, then it goes to crap.

It is wonderfully produced, however.
