Best use of Melody in a Rush song

The Big Wheel may be the least melodic song in their catalog, the verses especially. Sorry, but reverbed staccato syllables do not lend well to "catchiness" or whatever they were going for.

Then that godawful Barry Manilow frickin' chorus.

Cher or Barry Manilow? Which is it?

Cherry Manilow

I don't know...7COG and The Larger Bowl are pretty lacking in the melody department as well

Maybe... I can remember how 7COG goes though, melodically speaking, especially the chorus. It's not very melodic but certainly not the least. Larger Bowl, kinda, though I couldn't tell you how the verse goes. Big Wheel... nothing but that "Looking for luuurv" line, and that only stood out for being so cheesy.

I believe in what I see

I believe in what I hear

I believe that what I'm feeling

Changes how the world appears

Angels and demons dancing in my head

Lunatics and monsters underneath my bed

Media messiahs preying on my fears

Pop culture prophets playing in my ears

I've got celestial mechanics

To synchronize my stars

Seasonal migrations, daily variations

World of the unlikely and bizarre

I've got idols and icons, unspoken holy vows

Thoughts to keep well-hidden

Sacred and forbidden

Free to browse among the holy cows

Half the world hates

What half the world does every day

Not very many notes in that one . . .

I'm probably in the minority, but I love the melodies in Half the World...

The only thing I remember about HTW, musically, is that it's in 3/4.

:eh:

I had a similar reaction...

Oh, it isn't? Never mind then. Must be thinking of something else entirely... or it's hat it's not remotely memorable ;)
