  1. 1. Should posts in the spam threads be counted in post count totals and toward achieving levels?

Is it really that important?

No. But neither are 95% of the threads here. No one forced you to open it.

yes because they're still posts

But

----------------------+++-----------------

has no real value and shouldn't count the same as a well thought out or informational posts. So you have someone who's posted probably conservatively 40K posts in the spam thread as the forum's leading poster.

They shouldn't. Many of my posts are worthless but only by accident.... The subject doesn't keep me up at night however....

Neither does Presto. So maybe there should be no threads about that either...

Works for me. I have no problem with this thread and think its a subject worth getting folks opinions on. I can only post ATWAS is my favorite album ever so many times..... :|

Definitely not. A post count and member title should be something earned, and by earned I don't mean posting nonstop spam.

If you weren't rewarded with member titles then I don't think it would matter, but since they exist here I think the quality of your posting matters.

I suppose it's not that big of a deal. Post counts certainly don't measure respect. Plenty of forums have low quality members with high post counts. Regulars of the forums know them as such.

I look to date joined more often than posts when curious about a members' reputability.

Will it be up to the Admins to decide what is and what isn't a Spam thread?

Because that'll be a full time job

Hmmm... Should posts in the "What Rush song are you listening to right now?" thread count if they're just the song name? That's just as constructive as anything in TOST...

Absolutely, not much more. Relatively, infinitely more.

You'd be up shit creek if someone was judging quality of posts..

People know those who post just to post, and I'm sure this factors into any credibility they are given elsewhere on the board. I'm sure valid comments are dismissed just because of who posted it.

I think the Spam threads get too much bad press. There's a misconception that it's all just about about bumping post count. Sure, some people do (they know who they are...and so do you), but they're a minority. Myself, and most others, use the Spam threads for socialising and having random conversations.

I've made lots of friends in the Spam threads, and lots of great memories. I'm not happy at the idea that someone will decide that all that was "meaningless post-whoring" and that it doesn't count.

Had to get that off my chest

Member titles aren't really that big of a deal, honestly. I think they should be removed.

Then why post in the SPAM thread at all if you know that is the connotation it has here (and you are correct - most people that don't post in there think it's meaningless post whoring...)?

Why not exchange posts with these people in real threads? Or use PM? Or get in Chat?
