Hot is preferred but thick is necessary. Watery salsa sucks. Also, cilantro!!!

I don't like TOO many chunks. It can be chunky but it has to have a sauce part of it as well. To me it isn't salsa if it's just chunks of tomato/onion/peppers. That's called a salad, and we all know that salads are gross :madra:

Don't like it so hot that it overpowers everything else. My favorite is a mango salsa I get at Costco - not too sweet, has a nice tang to it, and they don't overdo on onions. (I love onions but if I'm not careful when I eat them I will be tasting onion for 3 days).

I'm also one of those souls who is genetically programmed to taste cilantro as soap.

I can't eat cilantro by itself or I get the same feeling. When mixed in bits with the salsa it's quite nice.

I like my salsa hot too but of course not meltdown hot. No watery salsa for me either the sauce has to have some thickness to it.

The fact that the culinary master of TRF votes Hot further proves that Hot salsa is best salsa.

Trader Joe's makes a nice mango salsa, and an equally nice pineapple salsa. Not as hot as I'd like but they're tasty.

... funky like a monkey.

Really?

Oh wait, that's how I like my blue cheese.

:laughing guy:

I knew you liked your dressing that way. ;) But do you like your wyminz hot or mild? Like your salsa, of course.

I'd say a Bhut Jolokia is about right.

If in a pinch, and cannot find the poblanos or something to make it at home... I will buy this stuff. Pretty much the only packaged salsa that I really like:

or (#2):

As far as hot sauce goes - I never let this stuff run out... I use it quite a lot. I love it in chili and jambalaya
