Pags
Mine was Styx - Pieces Of Eight. I was 10 years old and had my first ever earned wad of money burning a hole in my pocket from shoveling driveways just a few hours earlier. http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000002GBB.01._PE8_SCMZZZZZZZ_.jpg My friend and I went to the store (a little department store called Jamesway), and there it was. Cha Ching - there went my cash. But, in my hands was the first album I ever bought for myself. Incidentally, the first CD I ever bought was Journey - Raised On Radio in 1988. I'd probably worn out 2 cassette tapes already, and several days before I actually had the CD player in my possession, I bought the CD. http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000002BMZ.01._SCMZZZZZZZ_.jpg Thanks, sullysue for the idea of this thread. You had mentioned in another thread that Moving Pictures was the first album you ever bought with your own money, and that Styx album immediately came to mind. Isn't it funny how I can't remember what the hell I did yesterday, but I can remember this? I even remember the ailes we walked through with the album tucked under my arm. I was wearing a blue parka, and we even saw neighbors of ours shopping there. Oh for cryin' out loud - shoot me now.

Moonraker
I do believe the first album that I bought with my own money was when I was in 7th grade, on a recommendation of a friend of mine, I picked up, Smashing Pumpkins - "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness". Still to this day, it is one of my favorite albums.

rushgoober
To be truly honest, I can't for the life of me remember exactly when the transition occurred between my parents buying albums for me and me buying them myself with my own money, and I'm sure it wasn't a cut and dry cut-off period either, but a gradual transition! So, that being the case, and the fact that I can't even make a vague guess as to what the first album I bought with my own money was, I will list the first album that I specifically asked my parents to buy for me. This was 1976. I was 7... http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000001EL5.01._AA260_SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg
