This is really difficult…YYZ and La Villa Strangiato are both fantastic. I'm going to say La Villa for now, but it could be either on any given day.

I agree but I think La Villa has a lot more depth to it, while YYZ is just a flat out rocker.

I genuinely like all of them for what they are. I voted for La Villa for all intents and purposes; it's the quintessential Rush instrumental. However for me, YYZ has that drive about it that makes you wanna headbang to it if you felt like it. Where's My Thing is probably the black sheep of their instrumentals but it's got a bit of a funky riff to it that I just love for some reason. Leave That Thing Alone is better live IMO, and the performance on Time Machine 2011 explains why.

There's La Villa.... and then there's some other good stuff, too. It's a little bit like asking who the greatest quarterback to play for the 49ers was. Sure, Steve Young was very good and won a Super Bowl, but he ain't Joe Montana...

I've had Hemispheres in the car for a month, and La Villa never gets old.

Take it out of the equation. Add 2112 Overture to the poll.

2112 Overture is not a instrumental song.

Two things:

First, they are singing in it ("And the meek shall inherit the earth." )

Second, its a intro to a 20-mins song.

So I dont really count it as a instrumental song...
