I know I'm setting myself up for pain, but I thought I'd gauge how people view one of Rush's most underrated albums with their most overrated one.

FBN—no question. Not a bad song on the album. Neil's presence is immediately felt. The direction of the band changes for the better.

Counterparts is a good though. Not a frequent resident in the player...FBN is always in the rotation

If you asked me months or years ago, I would've said Counterparts. Now, I'm not too sure anymore, as despite what my signature says, I've grown immense love for Fly By Night. At the moment, Fly By Night but both albums are two of my top 10 favorite Rush albums.

Fly by Night

You really seriously don't want to mention CP around me today.

Such a bad listening experience.

Mick

How did the others in the 90s and 00s fare?

Fly By Night, no question. FBN has Anthem, BBB, By-Tor, and the title track, while Counterparts has Animate and LTTA and maybe a few others I listen to from time to time but nothing else that really stands out. Despite the weak link of Rivendell, FBN takes it.

Can't tell which is supposed to be the underrated and which the overrated.

My hatred for Counterparts is well known in these parts, which is why I thought I'd be setting myself up for pain as Counterparts is often viewed as a great album on this forum.

Agreed. A lot of people seem to love it, but in my opinion it's kind of... lacking, especially when it comes to consistency. Overall a bottom 5 record for me...
