The Analog Grownup
Can't remember my first record but my first Rush record was Grace Under Pressure. Still one of my all time favorite records.

Blue J
http://theoriginalsociety.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/elton_john_goodbye-yellow_brick_road.jpg Those shoes! I used to have a pair of those, but they were purple. Purple patent leather, with little eyelets of lavender suede around the base of them. Wearing "Bell Bottoms" of course! :P Yes! They were lavender-colored also, with no pockets. I put those together with a blue silk shirt, with lapels that looked like a freakin' hang glider...

PolarizeMe
First album I recall buying...I basically gave the CD to my mom and said "I want this one". And also the album that made the deepest impact on me, and led me to all the great and wonderful music I listen to today. http://cdn.recordinghacks.com/images/albumcovers/rush-moving-pictures.jpg Roughly two years after Moving Pictures, these were the first few albums I bought with my own money...these three were all bought on the same day. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/1/17/Steven_Wilson_Insurgentes.jpg http://skinbackalley.files.wordpress.com/2011/03/ptree.jpg http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/e/e0/The_Incident_cover.jpg Edited August 5, 2014 by PolarizeMe

The Analog Grownup
I have a feeling that my first album purchase is so embarrassing that I have repressed that memory. I did have a period "liking" pop music. It could have been a record with Suede that I only bought because of a chick I liked

CygnusGal
Moody Blues - Long Distance Voyager was the first album I bought with my own money. The first album I got as a gift was a K-Tel album with Kung Fu Fighting and Beach Baby. The first album I remember hearing is Deep Purple - Machine Head - I was mesmerized with that album :haz: . :) Edited August 6, 2014 by CygnusGal
The Analog Grownup
The first record I can remember was Tommy with The Who. I would spend countless hours as a kid listening to that record on my parents turntable, and is one of my first musical memories. That record has had a profound effect on my musical development. Wasn't my first record I bought myself, but felt like sharing that anecdote :)
