Both of these albums were a huge part of my music life so I'm all in. Just the two CD sets.

Is it really worth buying as far as sound quality?

Probably not. The sound quality is probably the same, but you might get it with a more modern sound. Perhaps a bucket load of loudness thrown into it. I'm gonna stick with the originals, to me that's the way it's always supposed to sound like.

Yep,

I am with you. Growing up with the orginal stuff. I can't see spending the money.

I haven't caved in... yet.

For some reason, I'm not excited about these re-issues. I am excited for other artists' re-issues, but not Led Zeppelin.

I have the Complete Studio Recordings boxset, The Song Remains the Same, the BBC Sessions and How the West Was Won.

And the Listen to This Eddie bootleg.

I am sated... for now.

I cannot wait until Oct 28th... for The Battle of Evermore ( mandolin/guitar mix from Headley Grange )

Me either. I'm just settling for all the deluxe editions. These releases are essential for the extras, and all the original artwork/running order which I never have owned...just the original Remasters mess.

I think the same as well. To be honest, I'm always torn with these "reissues / remasters". Sometimes, they do add a nice clarity to songs, but in other instances, they ruin them in my opinion.

I'll post an example here, since this one comes to mind for me every time. KISS released a remastered compilation album a few years back called "Gold". Now, their song "Love Gun" has one of my favourite guitar solos from Ace. To me, it is completely ruined on the "Gold" version...as Paul Stanley's repetitive "Love Gun" line is too much in the front that it actually drowns out the solo for the most part.

Here are the two examples (original and remastered). The solo starts around 2:25 and on.

Original (from 'Smashes, Thrashes, and Hits'):

Remastered (from 'KISS Gold'):
