To my eyes, these are perhaps the two most appreciated albums on this forum. So, I thought it'd be interesting to see which one wins in a poll!

P.S. I won't go overboard with these "this album vs this album" threads, promise :D

Caress Of Steel and A Farewell To Kings are two of the best albums of the seventies.

I absolutely love Caress of Steel but Hemispheres is way better. They're both in my top 5 favorite Rush albums, though.

I can't vote on this or on any seventies album as being the better or the best. The seventies was a unique decade in many ways not the least musically. Most of the old bands had their masterpiece(s) in the seventies.

For me, both COS and Hemispheres are the best in their own way.

Both of them are absolutely awesome albums

But Hemispheres is my favourite album, by anyone, ever...so it's got to be that for me

I obviously chose Hemispheres but I want to state that CoS is a masterpiece and no disrespect is intended in my vote.

Hemispheres is just brilliant, clever, emotional, and catchy as hell. To put out an album like this at 26 years old, specifically back then... unreal.

Bravo, boys. Bravo! :notworthy:

Hemispheres for me. The title track, The Trees, and La Villa are three of the most incredible songs ever written. Love Circumstances too, it rounds the album out nicely. And while I adore CoS, it's not quite the beast of an album that Hemispheres is

Gotta go with Hemispheres.

You get an epic, a phenomenal instrumental, and two "radio friendly" songs, one a straight-ahead rocker, the other a profound social commentary with one of the band's finest musical breaks in the middle.

It's not even close. And I like CoS.

This is gonna be an ass kicking and what's really a shame is Cos is a great album and doesn't deserve this kind of beating.

Somebody throw a towel in the ring before CoS gets hurt.

Caress of Steel doesn't deserve this.

Caress Of Steel is the concept car and Hemispheres is the car that actually rolls off the assembly line and onto the showroom floor.... Edited by Narpski

Few will deny that Caress of Steel is a monster album in its own right. From the deliciously ambiguous (menacing?) title to the songs within, the righteous Bastille Day and the blistering middle section of Necromancer.

Anyway, I think Hemispheres kicks the shit out of Caress of Steel. While Fountain of Lamneth is a great song, I just can't get into The Necromancer. Bastille Day is okay, but I really, really, HATE Lakeside Park and ITIGB.

Hemispheres is the best 70's album, and is better than most of the 80's onward (except CP, p/g, and Signals :P )

Love them both, but I find myself grabbing COS alot more than Hemi these days. Prob in the minority here, but voted accordingly.

That is acceptable and your opinion. All good. It's just the "I. HATE. HEMISPHERES" that makes me...

In your opinion. Or is this a dogmatic statement?

Not to change the subject, but does anyone here know if a computer shuts off unexpectedly and you have a USB stick in, will you lose the data on the stick? I want to listen to some music but I am afraid my computer will shut off again like it did already earlier today.

Shouldn't have any effect on the USB stick at all.
