Rock and Roll ironies

-Jim Morrison's only "real" talent was his lyric writing but the doors' most successful song 'Light my Fire" was written by Robby Kreiger

-Alanis Morissette's song "isn't it ironic" doesn't describe real ironic situations

-The only member of ZZ Top without a foot long beard is named Frank Beard

-"And I swear that I don't have a gun" -Kurt Cobain

-"Dude looks like a lady" -Steven Tyler

-Denis Wilson drowned to death

Anyone else have any..?

A band called Nirvana played some of the most depressing songs I've ever heard.

And as "anti-establishment" as they were, they just got into the rock hall of fame

Not sure how good of an example this one is, but I find it great.

There is a band called Animal Collective that released an album called Merriweather Post Pavillion, named after the venue of the same name. In preparation for the tour they could not play at the venue because it was so fully booked, it was impossible to fit in to the touring schedule, and god knows they tried their hardest to play a show there. They did not get to play there until 3 years after the album came out, and when they finally get there, they only played two songs out of 11 off the album, their most popular and acclaimed album they released.

Michael Jackson made many love songs about girls yet liked little boys.

Freddie Mercury sang many love songs about girls yet he liked men.

During the recording of Irony Maiden's "Number Of The Beast" producer Martin Birch had a car accident and the repair bill was £666.

Did he drive his Aston Martin into a birch tree?

The pun is even weaker than that. Subtle is a better word, I missed it first read too ;)

Waiting For the Sun is not on the Waiting For The Sun album and Houses Of The Holy is not on the Houses of The Holy album.

Ditto Joy Division.

The name Joy Division came from the name of the section of the Nazi concentration camps that housed female prisoners being used for sex/raped. So the name is doubly ironic.
