I have a set of used Neil Peart drum sticks. I think I paid less than 10 bucks at the music shop. They were used by me and they're the only ones I know of that were used by me.. This makes them super rare.. Think about it.

To put it more bluntly, the ad doesn't say that Peart used them so why assume he did?

I was not planning on buying them I was try to educate myself on Neil's drumsticks. I thought there was a way to tell? I want to start collecting Neil's drumsticks etc. I know he uses new sticks every tour and I was just trying to learn more.

What do you think? Is there a way to tell if it is used by NP?

Yes there is a way. This is fake.

At the very bottom of the black band that encircles the stick 1/3 of the way from the left would be the initials "NP" within the black paint in the natural wood color.

This guy is scamming ebay.

By the way, I know this because I have a pair of sticks used by Neil during the Snakes and Arrows Tour. Mine are beat all to hell, and at the bottom of the band is NP.

DO NOT BID ON THIS!

Actually, Neil didn't have the NP printed on the band of the stick until the Snakes and Arrows tour. Ever since then he's had them put on his personal sticks. Its hard to tell with stick models that are pre 2007 because there are no distinguishing markings like there are now.

I did not realize this...I suppose the auction could be legit then but there would be no way to tell for sure. You might just email Michael at neilpeartdrumsticks.com and ask him to check out the link at ebay. He may have a way to tell you something you could use to know for sure...i.e., distance of markings from end of stick, etc.

Exactly - the NP is a recent addition to prevent scams. The old drum sticks have tell tale marks and Michael is the expert, although I haven't seen or heard from him in a few years. His web site is a wealth of knowledge. Even earlier sticks have very tell tale signs in the way they were "prepared" for Neil.

Just going through some old post ... the "movie prop" sticks were not legit. The other sticks I can't remember. I've shut down so many fake lots on eBay that I lose track of their memory.

People are going to buy these and sell them for 10 times the price in a month

By saying he USED them...

Not on eBay they won't. I'm Mr Peart's VeRO agent on eBay. If I see fakes or they are brought to my attention I can have the lot closed, thus thwarting the sale. Don't hesitate to email me through my website if you ever see something questionable. -Michael of http://www.neilpeartdrumsticks.com
