Here are a few more of my weird copper things.

That's so awesome! How do you get the copper soft enough to bend it into such beautiful curves? In the past I've used a pastry torch to melt down metal... I love working with it. The spiral one with the 3 beads is my fave. :)

It's left-over copper wire scraps from an electrician friend. I bend into the shape I want and then hammer it until it's flat and firm.

Thank you. That's the one I wear all the time. :-)

Hey so as promised I started a jewelry thread for anyone on here who appreciates pretty shiny things or who makes them.  Hobo I think you mentioned you make jewelry too. :)

I make jewelry myself. I love it... since I work with yarn, hemp and do lacework I found these pieces were inspired a lot by those kinda of pieces.

Beaded hemp lace bracelet I made in 2012

The matching hemp beaded lace choker I made in 2012 also.

Anyone else make jewelry?

I've read a long time ago in a book that people with long slim fingers are more prone to be working with small creative details, whereas people with short hands are more suitable for hard labour. Grossly stereotypical I know, but when I see this post and what you've made in the "How Handy Are You" thread I can't help but wonder if there is merit to the generalization? Anyway I really admire crafty people. Makes me wanna be one myself :)

Damn you got skills all of you!
Interesting thought... that is my long alien looking arm and fingers modelling the bracelet.
Maybe there is truth to that. It does help to have small hands when doing lacework I can say that much.

Alien looking arm and fingers?! :o

Hope you don't mind getting a compliment but I find these supposedly "alien looking arms and fingers" very elegant and beautiful :)
 thanks... i should make more pieces... been feeling inspired lately

None of you has anything on me when it comes to "alien arms and hands".  I've been referring to my hands as "alien" for years.  I'm very small framed but for some reason have these freakishly long arms and big hands with long bony fingers.  I can span 9 keys on a piano.

That said, you all make some lovely jewelry!  I admire and envy anyone with the chops for art and design.
You have bass player's hands like I do. :D  I get a lot of reach outta these babies and also because they are narrow I've been able to do lace work with crochet and bead working.

Post a pic of you wearing jewelry on your hands and we'll see who has the most "alien arm" of all.

:P

My sister makes great jewelry and has a business. A few years back I made a few pieces for one of her shows. I pound and twist copper wire and I cut from sheets of copper and add beads, etc.

YBT, I love the hemp lace!  Those are beautiful!  I would totally buy come.

Umoveme, I love Moon River and Subdivisions!  I would buy those too!!!!  Gorgeous!

I would love to make jewelry, but that would have to be added to the millions of other things I enjoy doing...  :sigh:

Hobo!  You have good talent!  I dig those!

I forgot some things on this post and used someone else's name for anothers creation.  All aboard the FAIL boat....

Thanks Kris :)  I'm going to be making more soon... different colours and I have a few other patterns I'm working on.

I guess it's kinda in my blood... my mom makes dreamcatcher inspired jewelry... at least she used to when I was a kid. She doesn't work with lace tho.

I would really love to learn how to do lace...

Ugh... After spending time in the Schlong Schlorking thread, that doesn't even sound right...

I also make lace inspired headbands with and without beads... also made of hemp. I wish I could find a photo of this one in particular I made last year to go with these two pieces I posted.

Ah well... I guess I'll just make more.
