I'm not going to order these.

Beneath Between & Behind
By-Tor and the Snow Dog
Bastille Day
The Fountain of Lamneth
A Farewell to Kings
Xanadu
Cygnus X-1
Hemispheres
Circumstances
The Trees

Good thing we're not counting Permanent Waves, otherwise this would be very difficult to narrow down.

My Top Ten 70`s Rush songs

5.  Madrigal .
When the dragons grow to mighty ...
Hard to pick a song off my ultimate Fav Rush album and I could have gone with all the tracks .
But this is again a perfect song .

Hard to pick 10 as for me rush`s finest decade .
It's hard for me to believe that the most skippable track in their 70's catalog would make anyone's top ten list.

Clock's in at a mere 2:35. No Alex.  No Neil.
No Alex? No Neil? What are you talking about? I definitely hear some drums and guitar in there

He probably means they're taking a back seat, kind of like Alex did during the synth era (though I disagree with that. I understand it limited his creativity and expression, but at the same time the limitations and pressure pushed him to really shine in a new way for certain songs. E.g: Afterimage).

In this case, the back seat of a very, very long train.

1 La Villa Strangiato
2 The Necromancer
3 2112
4 By-Tor and the Snowdog
5 Working Man
6 Xanadu
(Those 6 are just "chalk" picks in my opinion).
7 Hemispheres
8 Lessons
9 Fly By Night
10 What You're Doing

7-10 could change for me depending on my mood, but 1-6 will ALWAYS make my list.

5. Cygnus X-1 Book I: The Voyage

This was really hard for me, because 70,s is my favorite part of Rush, so my list might look different tomorow.

Thread title could have easily just have been 'favorite Rush songs' 'cause mine are all from the 70s and should be no surprise that the epics all rise to the top

1  The Fountain Of Lamnneth
2. The Necromancer
3.  La Villa Strangiato
4.  Hemispheres
5.  2112
6.  Xanadu
7.  By Tor And The Snow Dog
8.  Cygnus X1
9.  A Farewell To Kings
10.  Lakeside Park

**Natural Science would make the 9 spot if listing ALL Rush songs knocking out Lakeside Park.  So, it's not just 70s songs for me. Of course, we have in the past, had the discussion in the past as to whether PeW is a 70s album or 80s album, blah, blah, blah........

Fortunately, your list only has 9 70s songs.  So you can add 1 more.

All of them were written and recorded in the 70s, hence they are 70s songs.  It would be weird to have heard an 80s song in the 70s.
