I remember mentioning before that i didn't like this one. Some TRFers were crying and saying that I shouldn't even count it as a song and that it was more of "an interlude" or whatever...their attempt

Hemi - Cygnus part II (one of overrated Rush songs IMO)

PeW - Different Strings(if I have to choose one), but this album is perfect

MP - Vital Signs

Signals - Chemistry

GUP - Red Lenses

PoW - Emotion Detector

Caress of Steel - The Necromancer

2112 - Lessons (kinda cheesy)

AFTK - Cinderella Man (boring)

Hemispheres - (Don't hate me for this.) The Trees (very cheesy premise.)

Permanent Waves - Different Strings (Not a bad song, but all the others blow it out of the water.)

Moving Pictures - None of them

Signals - Chemistry

P/G - Red Lenses

Power Windows - All the songs on this album are god tier songs.

Hold Your Fire - Tai Shan

Presto - Superconductor

Roll The Bones - Neurotica

Counterparts - Don't know enough songs to pick a least favorite, so "The Speed of Love".

Test For Echo - All of them except for the first two.

Vapor Trail - Freeze (so much noise...)

Snakes and Arrows - Good News First or Bravest Face

Clockwork Angels - No songs on this album have a single moment where they suck.

Rush- not played it enough.

 

Fly By Night- Rivendell (I love it though)

 

Caress Of Steel- Necromancer (them spoken word bits...yikes...)

 

2112- Something For Nothing (shrill and annoying, like myself)

 

AFTK- Closer To the Heart (I love it)

 

Hemispheres- side one (shrill, annoying, goes nowhere)

 

Permanent Waves- Spirit of Radio (still like it...hated first listen though)

 

Moving Pictures- Tom Sawyer (amazing song...but I find it overrated and I tend to skip it)

 

Signals- Digital Man (eugh)

 

Grace Under Pressure- Red Lenses (I LOVE IT)

 

Power Windows- The Big Money (eugh...die)

 

Hold Your Fire- I LOVE IT ALL

 

Presto- Scars (I like it)

 

Roll The Bones- You Bet Your Life (no...just...no)

 

Counterparts- Stick It Out (worst Rush song? Possibly...)

 

Test For Echo- I really like every song in this album...but...no I can't it brings too many smiles...okay I will pick one...Dog Years (I LIKE IT THOUGH...EAT ME)

 

Vapor Trails- Out Of The Cradle

 

Snakes And Arrows- errrrr...it blurs...take your pick

 

Clockwork Angels- Halo Effect (sounds like an old woman whining on a bouncy castle...)

Given what you've already heard, I'd go with either of these two...

 

Rush (debut)... some TRFers moan that it doesn't have Peart. They're right! Some of them continue and say that it's "not real Rush". They're wrong! Continue your Rush journey where Rush started.

 

OR

 

Power Windows...IMHO it's the best Rush album that you DON'T have and helps to bridge the gap from Grace Under Pressure to Presto without sounding like either.

AFTK: madri-cal Madrigal

Hems: Circumstances...but actually the title track on a bad day.

Pew: Different Strings

MP: Witch Hunt (the first one here since Rivendell I actually had such an easy time choosing)

Signals: Chemistry...I guess.

GuP: Red Lenses

PoW: Emotion Detector...by an extremely slim margin

HYF: High Water (and now things start getting easier)

Presto: Anagram (For Mongo)

RTB: Heresy

CP: The Speed Of Love

T4E: Virtuality

VT:...goodness they all sound so similar...pick something from the second half that doesn't have a guitar solo

SnA: Faithless is my least favorite. The music is fine, but Peart is at his most fallable lyrically.

CA: Wish Them Well...unless you really want to count BU2B2 as a full song.

This is so strange to me. I LOVE the lyrics of Faithless. When I first bought the album and listened to it straight through I wished that the music for Faithless would have been a bit better because I liked the lyrics so much, but felt the song was let down by music/melody that was near the bottom of the album in terms of quality. The biggest reason why I like The Way The Wind Blows better than Faithless, is because the music is superior and they both have a similar message. Had the music on Faithless been up to the quality of much of the rest of the album, it would probably be my favourite song outright. As it stands, I consider it the 7th best song on the album.

Speed of Love is my 2nd favorite on Counterparts.

Your choices are exactly what I would pick with the exception of The Big Money. I would choose Emotion Detector from PoWs.

I'll never really categorize Rush songs as bad. Save for a couple, which will be noted in this list. To me this list are the songs I like the least.

 

1. RUSH- Need Some Love

2. FLY BY NIGHT- Rivendell. A Rush song that I really don't like.

3. CARESS OF STEEL- I Think I'm Going Bald

4. 2112- Tears. Dearly disliked.

5. A FAREWELL TO KINGS- Cinderella Man

6. HEMISPHERES- Though it pains me to say this, Circumstances.

7. PERMANENT WAVES- Through pain, i say Different Stages.

8. MOVING PICTURES- Limelight

9. SIGNALS- Chemistry

10. GRACE UNDER PRESSURE- Red Lenses

11. POWER WINDOWS- Emotion Detector

12. HOLD YOUR FIRE- In unison the whole world screams "TAI SHAN!"

13. PRESTO- Red Tide

14. ROLL THE BONES- Heresy

15. COUNTERPARTS- The Speed Of Love

16. TEST FOR ECHO- Limbo
