RushCanuck
Day 1 of the Ryder Cup is in the books. USA leads Europe 5-3. Morning scores McIlroy/McDowell Team Europe, 1 Up Furyk/Snedeker Donald/Garcia Team USA, 4 & 3 Mickelson/Bradley Westwood/Molinari Team USA, 3 & 2 Dufner/Z Johnson Poulter/Rose Team Europe, 2 & 1 Stricker/Woods Afternoon scores Lawrie/Hanson Team USA, 5 & 4 Watson/Simpson McIlroy/McDowell Team USA, 2 & 1 Mickelson/Bradley Rose/Kaymer Team USA, 3 & 2 D. Johnson/Kuchar Westwood/ColsaertsTeam Europe, 1 Up Woods/Stricker For USA, kudos to Bradley/Mickelson, who played awesome. Woods/Stricker are 0-2. Woods had trouble finding fairway/putting in the morning. He played somewhat better in the afternoon, but still lost the match. Captain Love should consider playing Dufner/Watson/Simpson more. For Europe, Nicholas Colsaerts single-handedly took down Woods/Stricker with a putting clinic of 8 birdies and 1 eagle. Captain Jose needs to sit down the cold guys (Westwood, Kaymer, maybe McDowell), and play the passionate guys who live for the Ryder Cup more (Garcia, Donald and Poulter) plus keep playing Colsaerts. Principled Man
Furyk looked like a sickly old man out there..... So sorry that Tiger got benched.......NOT.....
laughedatbytime
It was fun to see Bubba (and Poulter, to his credit) get the crowd going and hit their tee shots with the crowd cheering.

RushCanuck
Keegan Bradley is amazing.... I love the way he sizes up the putt by looking at it with his strong left eye. He's really got Phil playing like a twenty-something. And his fist pumps are great. Good to see Poulter and Bubba getting the fans cheering as they teed off... Euros look flat so far... hope they start mounting more of a challenge ...

goose
QUOTE (Lost In Xanadu @ Sep 29 2012, 02:01 PM) Tiger sucks. Lost 3 of first 4?? Not his best format, traditionally. Not sure I'd say he sucks, though.
goose
Things are getting interesting. McElroy/Poulter just made Dufner/Johnson putt out a gimme instead of conceding. The event has lost some of the sportsmanship it was once known for.

RushCanuck
QUOTE (Lost In Xanadu @ Sep 29 2012, 02:01 PM)Tiger sucks. Lost 3 of first 4?? I'd say that Woods is erratic. He seems to show flashes of his old self, but at times, he sends tee shots into the trees and blows putts. On the PGA, he's had some hot rounds, but then he's followed them up with rounds where he struggles and shoots over par. Friday morning he played terrible, IMO. Friday afternoon and this afternoon, he played well on the back 9. Roger Maltbie said he didn't play well on the front 9 today.
RushCanuck
Wow, Ian Poulter rocked today for the Euros.... they sure needed something good to happen for them. With the score 10 - 6 for the US, I think the Euros need 14 points to retain the cup, and the US has to score 14.5 points to take the cup. There are 12 points available tomorrow, so the US has the edge.
RushCanuck
The Euros have some early momentum and the crowds are quiet... McIlroy only showed up on the grounds 11 minutes before tee time (confusion about central time vs eastern time), but he's doing ok in spite of no warm up...
