IMO it works on every level - lyrically, musically, emotionally.Also love Bravado (for the same reasons as The Pass). Bravado live in Rio is IMO one of Rush's most powerful moments ever. As for Resist...I don't mind it, but I don't go out of my way to listen to it. And The Garden? I know it's loved around here. But I can't stand it. With those other songs you could add "Mystic Rhythms" or more appropriately, "Ghost of a Chance" The Pass is my favorite, but it stands alone. Of the other 3...as much as I am swooning over THE GARDEN, and the song brings tears to my eyes, I'm going with RESIST I didn't choose Mystic Rhythms for the poll because I thought it was going too far in the past for the thread title "modern". Bravado, especialy live, is sublime...especially just after the line 'And if the music stops' *BWONG!* <<just a loud strum of Alex's guitar, but it feels like the music goes through you. Visceral somehow. So good. The Garden is good, I like it well enough... Bravado though...there's something poignant and heartbreaking about it. Resist I think The Garden got a lot of votes at the time simply because it was new when the thread was made. It might win if the same poll were made today but I don’t think the margin would be as great as what we see here. Resist was bound to be 4th place in this group.
