Peter Gabriel's early solo career (Gabriel 1-4) was way more interesting then anything he gave us in Genesis.

Mick

I have to listen to those albums. I've been meaning to for some time now.

They are some of my favorite albums.

I should add i've warmed greatly to Gabriel Genesis ........but i still VASTLY prefer those 4 solo albums to anything he did in the group.

Mick

...and you know I prefer the Gabriel era to the Collins stuff. Gabriel's brand of unconventionality is right up my alley. But I've never owned or listened to a whole solo album of his.

Back to the unpopular opinions, though...

Why doesn't anyone on this forum talk about James Taylor? Brilliant songwriter and guitarist, both.

(Here's the 'unpopular' element of my post):

One of my favourite JT albums is New Moon Shine, from 1991. I think it rivals anything he did during his classic 1970-'77 period. It's different, definitely; the sound is a product of its time and technology. But it's excellent.

Every song sounds like something you might hear on adult contemporary radio...I listen to virtually nothing else that inhabits that portion of the musical landscape. But my goodness, I love that record!

Where and when did you see him?

I've seen him live, too, but only once- Millett Hall at Miami University (Miami of Ohio, that is)- September 30th, 1993. (My memory for dates is savant-like). It was a fantastic show!

I saw him in Atlantic City at the boardwalk Hall in 2008 or 9.

it was a great show. he's very laid back and his shows just have such a cozy and friendly atmosphere.

His band was great too.

The Boardwalk Hall, is that the Borgata? Or a different venue altogether?

Another album of his that I just love, and it needs to be mentioned with the others you listed, is Gorilla.

it's separate from the borgata. it's right near what used to be the Trump plaza. You exit that casino onto the Boardwalk and the Hall is right next to the Plaza. off topic. I LOVE the Borgata, lol

Gorilla is indeed excellent.

Chicago pizza is inferior to New York pizza.

Apples and oranges, my friend, apples to oranges!

I realize it's all a matter of opinion. But biting into a slice of New York pizza is a completely different experience from biting (or cutting, with knife and fork) into a Chicago pizza.

Both experiences are second to none!

(And I'm really hungry right now! :rage: ).
