I know that this has been done before...but times change.  New bands come out and others become irrelevant.

So, who are yours?  Here is my list:

1 Rush
2 Afghan Whigs
3 Bob Mould / Sugar
4 Catherine Wheel
5 Mastodon
6 Social Distortion
7 Helmet
8 Ministry
9 Depeche Mode
10 Tears For Fears
11 The Smithereens
12 Tool
13 REM (Green and earlier)
14 Deftones
15 Genesis (Abacab and earlier)
16 Peter Gabriel
17 Mudvayne
18 The Cure
19 NIN
20 Porcupine Tree
21 Pixies
22 Placebo
23 Stabbing Westward
24 The Replacements
25 Swervedriver

# 2 and 3 on your list are fantastic bands. In the mid 90s Black Love and Copper Blue were my favorite albums.

Those are indeed incredible albums. I think Gentleman is slightly better than Black Love, but neither album has a bad track on it.

Have you ever heard Beaster from Sugar? It's an EP and it's freakin amazing.

Wow. I'm surprised that there is so much love for Helmet! new_thumbsupsmileyanim.gif I didn't expect that.

Helmet rocks. I just saw them back in the fall, and they sounded amazing...picked up Pages instructional DVD at the show as well..you wouldn't believe his jazz chops ! He is a seriously schooled player.

It's cool to see Tom Petty getting a lot of love in this thread. I'm of the opinion he is one of the only great rockstar songwriters who didn't embarrass himself at some point during the 1980s.

I mean, Let Me Up (I've Had Enough) isn't exactly a masterpiece. But it also isn't Glory Days.

Point is, I equate him with integrity.
