Great blend of 50's horror and whodunnit. Vincent Price is always entertaining.

I watched this one when it first came out, and it still holds up quite well! Robin Williams and Wayne Knight play small parts, and I couldn´t help but notice the actor who would play Breaking Bad´s Tuco Salamanca with just one quik line ("try the freezer").

Also worth noting is that the film´s story inspired Dream Theater´s album Metropolis Part II: Scenes from a Memory.

The best part of that movie is Isabella Rossellini.

I am currently reading the book. Far more interesting, although my hope is that there will be a few more versions of this film released, not sequels exactly, but different accounts of the same plague.

If you haven't, read the book. It is addictive!

The version I watched was apparently the uncut edition, which means there were several scenes that made you go akkk and ughhh. Especially the shot down falling face-first into the fire scene and the Simon Oakland stoning. This is an underrated western thriller and it got me thinking about Bronson's best films and where this one should be ranked in my own estimation.

So here's the treeduck Bronson top 20 best ever films list.

1 The Great Escape

2 The Magnificent Seven

3 Once Upon a Time in the West

4 The Dirty Dozen

5 Hard Times

6 Mr Majestyk

7 Death Hunt

8 Red Sun

9 The Mechanic

10 Chato’s Land

11 Death Wish

12 Breakheart Pass

13 St. Ives

14 Murphy’s Law

15 Borderline

16 The White Buffalo

17 Villa Rides

18 The Stone Killer

19 10 to Midnight

20 Master of the World

It's got to be more interesting than the movie, which was a bit boring.

The book is a collection of "interviews" from survivors of the "war".

Every action scene I have read in the book so far tops the dullness of anything in the movie. It has a biting edge to it regarding politics, and it allows the reader room to breathe, fill in the gaps, and put themselves in the scenario.

My opinion? This book is unfilmable. It just doesn't work as a film, as the quality is all on paper. I have heard good reports for the audio recording as well, which uses different voice actors for each account.

Try the book. Ignore the film (its just another dull zombie movie).

Good to know. I didn't know that was how the book was. I'll check it out.

Do so...it is one of the best books I have read in years, very clever and so realistic I often think about researching the events online before I realise its fiction!

The movie doesn't do the story justice. I find it gets a little shallow at times, and thus try to instill some seriousness into it but not done that well.
