Every once in a while, a independent little horror film comes along and knocks it outta the park

It Follows is outstanding and the cast is perfect ... Great movie

I found it slow, boring and overrated.

But better than Get Out.

I loved it ... it had this surreal quality and the synth soundtrack was great

It was slow of sorts, but I prefer slow movies .... I loved the camaraderie aspect between the kids

That beach scene was classic

To me if a horror fails to get under my skin, make me think, scare me, make me jump, or at the very least entertain me, it has failed.

Can’t be worse than me

The MCU has a 12-5 record with me. That’s all of them not including Black Panther btw.

Note: Those 5 losses are C grades and lower...but none are outright Fs because even those have some pieces of fun in there. :blaze:

Panther’s the 18th MCU flick so you couldn’t have 14-4...unless you’re already counting it as a W despite not seeing it yet.

Not bad, but not the most original film. I can´t understand why this was considered Oscar material. The academy seems to love coming of age movies, but this kind of film has been done a million times already.

It’s decent but not as much as the high RT meter suggests. Three Billboards is still tops for me and might be the first time I really loved a BP winner since No Country For Old Men the rate it’s going.

An excellent addition to the Marvel film universe! Chadwick Boseman is outstanding as T'Challa. Excellent supporting cast, which is led by the unbeatable Angela Bassett and Forest Whitaker. Andy Serkis is always a treat to see in action.

Magnificent scenery, very few bumps in the plot and dialogue. Very entertaining!

Will check it out next week.

How would you rank it among the other MCU movies?

Better than (x) but not as good as (y).

Grade?

I avoid ranking films like the plague ..... but I can say that it was immensely better than the last Marvel film - Thor: Ragnarok.

I give the film a solid B+. There was a real story behind all the special effects and battle scenes. I really liked how I couldn't predict much of what was going to happen. I frowned a bit when typical American vulgarities were used by native Wakandans. Overall, it was a very solid film.

Fair enough about the ranking stuff. I forgot it’s you who dislikes that.

I like Boseman as it is. Get On Up isn’t that great of a movie (it’s still decent though) but HE is great portraying James Brown in that.

It helps that Panther was already seen in Cap Civil War. Yet another smart move by Marvel. Really, debuting Panther AND Spidey capably in that (besides the whole Cap/Iron Man confrontation) THEN giving both of them their individual flicks?! Great.

I disliked Thor Ragnarok. The more I think about it, the more I dislike it.

Good.

The Making Of and other blu-ray/DVD stuff on the real Sully are worth a watch too.

Another plane crash movie that’s pretty good, albeit from a different angle, is Flight with Denzel.

2 of the most dependable actors around.

Yep, we were already introduced to the Black Panther's suit, so the stand alone film could focus more on the characters and story. Excellent strategy.

As an old school Marvel comics fan, I do disagree with the suit itself being bulletproof and having more bling (as it did in more modern comics). Still, it didn’t bother me in Cap 3 so I assume it won’t for this.

The head piece of the costume is good and Boseman is a very good choice for T’Challa. In truth, I can’t think of better choices for the more recent additions of Boseman, Cumberbatch, and Holland as Panther, Strange, and Spidey respectively.

Few actors deliver as consistently as they do.
