Really loved this one.

I keep hearing mixed reviews from people who have seen this. I was going to see it at the theater and then a friend of mine who generally likes the same type of movies that I do said that he didn't like it. So I didn't go.

I think you need to watch it remembering this is based on tried and true material we have seen many times before.

Now...I saw it with children who hadn't seen the animation and weren't all that familiar with the story in general. For me, it's over familiar, for them it's all new.

I adored the film. Seeing it with an audience who have never seen it was an amazing experience and I think that helped me realise what a great film this is!

Maybe for us adults it's a little boring (not me but I can ee ow it could be), but it's definitely one of the very best family films I have seen in years. Of for nothing else, admire the beauty of the effects. To my eyes it's a more beautiful world than Avatar.

And Bill Murray as Balloo was great!

I give it a 9/10. Only letdown was Scarlet Johannson as Kaa.

It's worth bearing in mind hat this is very much the cartoon as told with the darkness of the novel. It's a perfect blend.

And Shere Khan is delightfully evil. REALLY GREAT VOICE ACTING.

And the wolf cub Grey...oh my word Eagle you will love his little face!

I don't know if this is still at the super saver cinemas here or out on DVD yet but I will check it out. I was a huge fan as a kid of the stories and really didn't like the animated version since it was so different.

The movie is a remake of the animation, bear that in mind.

But it doesn't strive to be the same movie at all. It has some very dark moments for a family movie. Some children at the cinema I went to were escorted out crying ridiculously.

What a shame that they had to redo the animated movie and couldn't follow the book. I hope sometime that they actually make a movie that does.

The whole point of Disney adapting these stories is they are creating new sides to what made them great.

I enjoy the novel more than the animation. I enjoy this movie more than the animation and much of that is because the tone is more respectful to the source material.

Besides, Disney create their own stories. I think of it as no different to each country in Europe having different spins on the same folklore or fairy tales.

I get what you're saying but the movie only covers a couple of chapters of the book. They could do so much more with it.

Star Wars-The Force Awakens.

i know this movie has an army of detractors. but i love it more and more with every viewing.

Mick

I saw it at the theater right after it came out. I had mixed feelings about it mainly due to the complete unlikelyhood of Han and Leia having a tall skinny ethnic looking child. They could've done way better in the casting. The rest of the movie I thought was good.

Yea i really didn't like the live action Jungle book.

very pretty to look at but they tried combing the book and the oringinal disney film.

the result is a movie that just......fails.

i liked their live action Cinderella though.

He came across as really babified and shallow to me. Maybe if they had gone more into his background he wouldn't have come across so childish. But maybe they will in future installments.

Don't care if it's naff. THIS film is amazing.

Taught me one thing: incredible breasts keep you alive. I swear she could just float away to New York and that would be a really plausible ending.

You know times are rough in the creative department when Hollywood starts to put out sequels to movies that weren´t all that great to begin with...

One of my all time favorites

omg this movie made me squirm. pretty dark stuff. "Welcome to the Dollhouse" is just as squirmy but in a slightly...different way.

just watched "Look Who's Back" on Netflix. Squirm squirm squirm. I laughed until I cried.

The second is normally sold separate and isn't nearly as popular.

Interesting! I'm thinking maybe mine both say The Jungle Books rather than 'book' singular. I would go look but they're packed away in moving boxes.

Last night: The Infiltrator

It was pretty good, but it could have been much better. It's a biopic, so I think the fact that it tried staying too true to the truth didn't work in its favor. The film set-up a lot of interesting plot points, but never returned to them, and there was a very sudden shift in emotion towards the end.
