RUSHHEAD666
"Bad Reputation" is blasting on my stereo right now. Every song is simply a a masterpiece!! I can believe that Deep Purple is a much more popular pick on Union 5's poll but it makes me love Thin Lizzy even more!! That poll came at the right time as Thin Lizzy will be playing in my backyard on Thursday night!! I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooo pumped!! Scott Gorham is better than Blackmore. That is a given especially now. Blackmore's Night is a bore. Ritche should just make babies with Candice instead of music!! Meanwhile Scott Gorham is back on the hard road of touring kicking ass and taking names. I am actually more excited about seeing Lizzy than Priest!!! Sure there is no Phil or Sykes or Bell, but there is no KK either! Shit happens over time!! Instead of bitching about line up changes we should embrace the reality of what it is instead of what it was!! Just think how luck us real Rush fans really are!! Geddy, Alex and Neil are still kicking ass and recording in 2011. I count my lucky Red Star of the Federation every day. LONG LIVE ROCK! I NEED IT EVERY DAY!! If you don't agree with me then just hit the "Opium Trail" and head "Southbound."

RUSHHEAD666
Neither does that Grand Slam stuff! Hey Saw!! You better get ready buddy! I want to explore Ireland with you even though my wife wants nothing to do with the rock and roll history of your great country! Maybe I should just fly out to Ireland by myself and meet you at the airport! After all Wendy went to Rome this summer with her mom and sister without me!! I want to see that Phil statue. I want to see that Rory Gallagher guitar at that pub. I want to see the castle where U2 recorded "The Unforgettable Fire!" I want to drink beer, eat meat and potatoes!!! Thin Lizzy is in my TOP 5 BANDS OF ALL TIME! Deep Purple isn't even in my top 20!!!

MMCXII
I plan on seeing the show on nov 1 here in Edmonton. Damn straight bad reputation rocks but did you need to bring purple into this??? Dude that's harsh! Bad reputation is one of my fab lizzy tunes! Drum fills are so off the hook! Opium trail flows like rock and roll butter baby!! Such an under-rated tune! Lynott was an absolute genius especially on this tune!! Wish there were more live recordings of it.. Hey Earl did you know this album was recorded in Toronto? Nice little rush reference

Hey Earl did you know this album was recorded in Toronto? Nice little rush reference MM!! Sorry about the Purple reference but I brought up that band because of that Thin Lizzy V. Deep Purple Poll!! Deep Purple blew Lizzy away!! So I had to write this one!! The drum fills are killer bud!! What a fun song to play on the drums!! I hope they play it live for us!! The last time I saw Thin Lizzy was at the same venue, the Concord Pavilon. The highlight for me many years ago was when John Sykes and the boys went into "Cold Sweat." I almost had a shit attack! Again, for my ears Thin Lizzy blows Deep Purple away!!! John Lord is a Legend, but I love my rock and roll with two guitars. Not a fuckking prima donna guitar player named Blackmore with a keyboard player! Give me Bell, Gorham, Moore, Snowy White and Sykes!! Even Joe Satriani was in Deep Purple for a few months on a tour. No thanks. Hell I would rather watch Steve Morse shred in The Dregs than in DP! I would rather listen to The Dixie Dregs than Deep Purple! Great knowledge about "Bad Reputation" being recorded in Toronto. I never knew that. Damn I love writing threads. I still learn something new everyday!! IN LIZZY WE TRUST!!! Hatchetaxe&saw
Imagine, the three of us on an Irish rock'n'roll roadtrip....... the country would never recover..... Once we unglued Earl from the Phil Lynott statue in Dublin, we'd be fine. Then there's the Rory statue in Ballyshannon...... it would be a very liquid week. Rick N. Backer
QUOTE (RUSHHEAD666 @ Oct 24 2011, 01:57 AM)I honestly can't think of any bad song Lizzy has done. Can you? Yellow Pearl doesn't count. Earl, when I was about 12 or 13 in 1980, and just getting into music that was harder than The Monkees, I went out and bought Jailbreak. I bought it because Def Leppard, who may not have released High N Dry yet, said in Circus magazine that they loved Thin Lizzy. I figured if I loved DL, which I did, I would love TL. I gave the album away a week later. I have a double album of greatest hits loaded on my iPod now, but I think it's because I feel I should. I can't say I've ever felt the urge to sit and listen to TL alone. If you can think of something that will change my view, I'd be happy to hear it. I just think these guys get a lot of praise from a lot of great acts, and I have to say I don't think they deserve it. Your mileage may vary. Bastille Dave
I cant compare DP to TL, especially since DP started to go downhill around the time TL started to really make killer records. They were two completely different bands soundwise and structure wise. and they both kicked ass and that is good enough for me.
Hatchetaxe&saw
Bad Reputation rules. The BBC session version of That Woman's Gonna Break Your Heart is, to these ears, Phil's finest 3 minutes.

"Dancing In The Moonlight." Totally. Completely. My wife is a Lizzy fan. The Purps had some good times, I really love the Coverdale era, but Lizzy was great from '71-'83... hard to top that. Wish I didn't have to wait 'til after high school to find out about them. Might have seen a show. Signed, Johnny The Foxxxxsssss...

Babycat
Just wanted to post this: When I passed you in the doorway You took me with a glance I should have took that last bus home But I asked you for a dance Now we go steady to the pictures I always get chocolate stains on my pants My father he's going crazy Says I'm living in a trance But I'm dancing in the moonlight It's caught me in its spotlight It's alright, alright Dancing in the moonlight On the long hot summer night It's three o'clock in the morning And I'm on the streets again I disobeyed another warning I should have been in by ten Now I won't get out until Sunday I'll have to say I stayed with friends But it's a habit worth forming If it means to justify the end Edited January 1, 2012 by Babycat
