Just finding this thread now........

Phil Lynott was a master wordsmith. He wrote songs that were touching works of art. One of the best lyricists of all time.

Live and Dangerous is rightly considered one of the greatest live albums of all time.

Even over-looked albums like Renegade are classics (probably my favourite Lizzy album).

They deserved more recognition and wealth than they received.

Maybe I should just fly out to Ireland by myself and meet you at the airport!  After all Wendy went to Rome this summer with her mom and sister without me!!

I want to see that Phil statue.  I want to see that Rory Gallagher guitar at that pub.

I want to see the castle where U2 recorded "The Unforgettable Fire!"

I want to drink beer, eat meat and potatoes!!!

Thin Lizzy is in my TOP 5 BANDS OF ALL TIME!

Deep Purple isn't even in my top 20!!!

Have to say Perfect Strangers is one killer album though Earl. I hear ya love for Lizzy though, they were pretty much faultless in my book as well trink38.gif trink39.gif

Just wanted to post this:

When I passed you in the doorway
You took me with a glance
I should have took that last bus home
But I asked you for a dance

Now we go steady to the pictures
I always get chocolate stains on my pants
My father he's going crazy
Says I'm living in a trance

But I'm dancing in the moonlight
It's caught me in its spotlight
It's alright, alright

Dancing in the moonlight
On the long hot summer night

It's three o'clock in the morning
And I'm on the streets again
I disobeyed another warning
I should have been in by ten

Now I won't get out until Sunday
I'll have to say I stayed with friends
But it's a habit worth forming
If it means to justify the end

Great song, great lyrics Cat! My wife's favorite Lizzy song.

Thought you'd like that, Earl - I posted it for you and your lovely lady! heart.gif

Dont like either band outside of some tunes... IMHO both are a bit overrated.

Come on Greg!! Give them more "ear" time!!!!

Go pick up "Thunder And Lighting" on cd. You can find it cheap.

If you don't fall in love with the record after a few listens I will send you your money back.

Serious!

Thin Lizzy is a bar band.

Yeah, outside of maybe 2 songs, they got zero airplay. I did see them with Priest a while back and they kicked ass

Deep Purple are international superstars. Thin Lizzy is a bar band.

Just tell me where that bar is and reserve a seat for me ...

(And I don't mean that one where Phil and Gary are already jamming. I've got a seat reserved there already. Hopefully ...)

Yeah, they are unbelievable live.

Hats off to Ricky Warwick (The Almighty/New Model Army/SIC/Circus Diablo) for the respect and honour he shows Phil...Ricky is a great singer and front man.

Damon Johnson (Brother Cane/Alice Cooper) is a fine addition on guitar to the line-up, that's for sure.

Thin Lizzy a bar band?

Man, that's just not a nice thing to say about rock royalty.

Deep Purple is a great band, with a great history, much like Thin Lizzy.

However (and with all due respect) if you were to ask the average person about their music, they can only name a song or two (if that) by them as well.

Metaldad, do you know anything else about the upcoming release you spoke of?

I know that there some SHM releases set for 2012.

Of course, the Deluxe versions of Jailbreak, Johnny the Fox, Black Rose, Chinatown, Live and Dangerous all came out in 2011 with bonus tracks, etc.

~Cheers, RGLT

I'm a SHM CD ADDICT!

I have all of the Thin Lizzy Promo Boxes from Japan with the SHM cds.

The next wave will probably be "Renegade," "Thunder And Lightning" and "Live Live."

Knowing Japan they will probably throw in a few more titles into this next box as well like "Live At The BBC" or perhaps the two Vertigo Phil Lynott solo releases.

I'm going to predict that the 2012 Japan promo box will feature the "Thunder And Lighting" artwork. 1022.gif

SYKES RULES!

Rushhead,

How do the Lizzy SHM CDs sound?

"Nightlife" and "Fighting" are getting the 2 CD deluxe treatment in February.

~RGLT

Holy Shit!! How could I forget about those two EPIC LIZZY ALBUMS!!!

Shame on me!! I just thought that Japan and the UK were going to focus on the later stuff first!! Snowy White and Sykes!!

Dude!!! "Nightlife" is strangely my second favorite Lizzy album next to "Thunder And Lighting."

The song "She Knows" is my all time favorite. The guitar riff is EPIC.

"Fighting" is also a masterpiece. You have made my night before signing off!!!

LIZZY RULES!!

When I saw Lizzy, BLS and Judas Priest last year I was pissed off when I learned that Lizzy opened. I thought for sure that Lizzy was going to be the second act, not the opener.

I love Zakk but man his band is a piece of shit. I had front row dude for that show and I had to leave during BLS.

Distorted crap! JMO.

I was front row and all alone for Lizzy. I was right in front of Mendoza. Great fukking bassist. Lizzy was on fire. Some of my buddies thought they were boring. Obviously they were not real Lizzy fans.

Who needs friends who rip on Lizzy. I don't care what MK it is.

I have a Thin Lizzy Vivian Campbell guitar pick from the UK tour! Very rare!

I caught a couple picks too that night from Lizzy.

Sorry I'm rambling again.

The SHM Lizzy CDS are a must have. Not just for the packaging but for the sound.

You have to have a killer audiophile system but you can tell a slight difference.

It's all about the warmer bass sound and the higher highs!

I'm high on Thin Lizzy right now.

A fukking bar band?? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

That's the stupidest thing I have ever read on here.

Strangely enough I've seen the Sykes version of Lizzy in the USA four times.

Three out of the four times they were in some small club.

Loved every second of it!!

I saw Lizzy with Vivian Campbell in NYC at a smaller venue and ws front row.

As I've said before, they were fantastic...much, much, much better than I anticipated.

I first saw them open for Queen wa-a-a-a-a-a-y back in 1977.

~Cheers, RGLT

PS...you don't happen to have an extra Damon Johnson/Thin Lizzy pick you don't know what to do with do you?

I'm on a massive Lizzy kick too, it's been with me since November. Can't shift it, Roisin Dubh(The Black Rose) & Fighting are kicking my ass all this week.

Have pre-ordered the remaster of Nightlife. They did a fantastic job with Chinatown, Vagabonds & Bad Reputation.

Lizzy a bar band? Don't make me laugh. Clueless statement.

Agreed. His lyrics were a rare combination of the streetwise and the literate.

The ballad type songs he wrote were as good as any of the rockers. There's a depth to songs like Wild One, The Sun Goes Down, Fight or Fall and others that you don't come across much these days.

I've been in a Thin Lizzy mood this week and man I can't get enough of "Night Life." "Still In Love With You" is EPIC. Tear Jerker man!

I think "Thunder And Lightning" is Lizzy's best album. What irony that it was their last! When I was a kid I always thought that "Thunder And Lightning" was after "Black Rose" and before "Chinatown" and "Renegade"

Boy was I fuckiing wrong!

Thin Lizzy is easily in my TOP TEN OF ALL BANDS!

Phil is just beyond the greatest EVER!

"Cold Sweat" with Sykes on guitar simply kicks major METAL ASS!!!

It just goes on and on and on and on and on about Lizzy!! This band needs more love on the Rush Forum!! Now that everyone is pumped up like Arnold on steroids about the R40 Anniversary Tour well let's take a chill pill and discuss some more Thin Lizzy!!

Those reissues with the bonus disc are Legendary.

Those reissues are phenomenal. Fighting JUMPS out of the speakers! Nightlife is as slinky as the panther on the cover! Superb.

The 180grm vinyls are pretty sweet as well. AND THEY LOOK AWESOME! Johnny The Fox is Jim Fitzpatrick at his very best.
