I've been watching Enterprise this week, I only watched a smattering of the episodes when it originally aired and I thought it was a bit meh, I probably didn't give it a fair shake. Now that I'm giving it my full attention I'm enjoying it a lot more and it's making me re-evaluate its position in the TREK show rankings.

With that in mind I've started this thread.

Here's my new rankings:

1 The Original Series

2 The Next Generation

3 Enterprise

4 Deep Space Nine

5 Voyager

What are yours?

I thought you knew! xD

I had this as my icon for at least a week:

But, yes, Odo is my favourite character and Odo/Kira, my favourite couple.

They're just so cute. Even cuter than Spock/Chapel which NEVER WAS. ;~;

I actually like Enterprise quite a lot, it's just that the three preceding series are really good, imo. Might switch its position with TNG's. But TNG had more Q and more Borg. Thing is Voyager killed the Borg's awesomeness when they started showing up every other week. |:

That's how I was with Enterprise, watched a few episodes, bits of a few more and decided it wasn't worth bothering with. It looks a lot better to me though now...

I know it looks like I just listed them in chronological order, but these are my favorites. I'm still getting into Deep Space Nine though, so it's order may switch soon.

2. somewhat by default, Next Generation...the latter season episodes were much better.
3. for 7 of 9's body, Voyager
4. only saw a few episodes of DS9 during the first season and they were too slow

* never saw Enterprise

Hey Blaze! What's up stranger?

F Star Trek!

Then again I did like the prequel film.

Is there going to be a prequel sequel?

Does that make sense?

Yo RUSHHEAD!

Honestly, I didn't really care for any of those other Treks besides the original series. Even with the films I only liked part 2, 6, the Borg one, and the reboot.

The prequel sequel...hmm, if they do they should go with some original series character(s) references/cameos (i.e. Khan, Harry Mudd, the veiny buttheaded geezers that trapped Captain Pike, those white-haired blue dudes with the antennae, that Liberace-looking guy Trelaine who some say was a Q, etc.)

Here's mine:

1: Deep Space Nine

This was the only show that really seemed to step out of the Trek mold and explore new territory. The characters are amazingly written, and seem so well rounded and real. The recurring characters almost make the show. Garak from Deep Space Nine is a far more developed character than, for example, Harry Kim on Voyager or Worf on TNG. Even the bad guy, Dukat, has a backstory that makes you *almost* sympathetic to him. Everything about this show works. It was a space saga.

2: The Next Generation

It really kicked off everything modern with Trek. The Borg, Q, Cardassians, diplomacy... all from TNG. The show brought science to it's pinnacle and made some finer points about morality along the way. Picard was able to become an equal to Kirk by being completely different than him.

3: The Original Series

I'll be honest, what I know of TOS is mostly through the movies. I've only seen a handful of TOS episodes. They're just very dated.

4: Voyager.

A lot of the characters here are just unintersting. Neelix is an annoyance every time he gets screen time, and Harry Kim is very... wooden. I will say that Robert Picardo's work as the Doctor is outstanding. Doctor-centric episodes are a highlight. Janeway's character became better as the series went on. She originally seemed very dogmatic about Starfleet ideals, but learned quickly to shake things up. This show could have been so much better if they would have built on the Maquis plot int he first season... but they seemed to create that story line just to get rid of it halfway through the first season. Major disappointment.

5: Enterprise:

Temporal Cold War? A Prequel that focuses on alien races I've never heard of? Near-race conflict between Vulcans and Humans? I dunno, I just couldn't follow along with this show. It just seemed like an attempt to find lucrative ways to grab cash from the Prequel trend in Hollywood. Archer, as a captain, makes many poor decisions and has this smugness to him that I can't stand. The rest of his motley crew are rather forgettable... I do think that the series, as with most Trek series, would have gotten better had it not been cancelled. If I only had 4 seasons to judge DS9 or Voyager off of, things would be different with how I view them too.

Cool!

1.) Deep Space Nine

2.) Next Generation

3.) TOS

4.) Voyager

5.) Enterprise

I didn't like Voyager or Enterprise much at all. DS9 had the best stories and a better OVERALL cast of characters however my favorite Trek characters are probably still Picard and Data.

Star Trek II, IV and VI are excellent. All others are garbage.

The new one (11) and Search for Spock (3) are really good too.

well, Garak is the only Star Trek character to have the honour of being asked by "Dirty" Harry Callaghan if he "Felt Lucky, Punk."

Spoiler: he wasn't lucky

I've always liked "The Search for Spock" too. I think this film provides the first look at the "modern" Klingon, with the facial geology, the death metal hair, the doggy snaggle teeth and the wacky language. Excellent film too.

I loved TSFS. I watched it like five times in three days when I was sick for a week. In fact, in addition to TWOK, it's the movie that got me into the whole Star Trek franchise. laugh.gif

Right after the writers of Enterprise started "getting it" the show was canceled. I think they tried too hard to give Enterprise its own identity, instead of sticking to the established Star Trek history. When the started telling stories within the somewhat establish continuity and filling in holes the storytelling got much better, IMO. Unfortunately, they ran out of time and viewers before they really got the ball rolling.

Yeah I never could get into Voyager, Captain Janeaway and all her crew pretty much sucked...

They had a great premise and a few solid episodes. What held it back was a lot of throw away main characters that were way too soft for the role they played (Tom Paris did "terrible" things and yet seems to be more sympathetic and compassionate than some of the original Voyager crew), wooden acting, sterile subplots (they failed miserably at capitalizing on the crew conflicts of having Maquis+Starfleet+reluctant criminal aboard).

Oh and then there's Harry Kim, the ship's toddler......let's not go there.
