Yeah thing is brackets system doesn't work for NHL playoffs because matchups are based on seedings in each round...

Well, only for the first two rounds. But yeah, I probably should have found a better template. Still, it gets the point across about who faces who and whatnot.

I'm still pissed about you getting home ice against us two years ago, even though we ended up with more points...

Yeah, 'cuz that series went so badly for the Hawks after that eyesre4.gif

I don't care. I still want the home ice. It's a stupid rule. 062802puke_prv.gif

Well, there's no debate about who gets it this time around wink.gif

You can't open things up against us. We have too much speed. You can only play the boring (soccer) style to be successful. tongue.gif

The Canucks can shut it down if they want to, no question. Best goals-against in the league, and that's with a revolving-door cast of defensemen thanks to injuries. And now the top 6 are all healthy. Plus the Canucks are arguably faster than last season, better on special teams, and waaay more disciplined. That's what sunk them last time around.

The last thing I expect is a sweep though.

Edit: And no Byfuglien. The Hawks are really going to miss his ability to do whatever the hell he wants to Luongo and not get called for it...

My point is that, in the playoffs, you are up against one team and you have to figure out how to play that team. Canucks have a terrible record there. You can throw around your goal-against stuff all you want. In the playoffs, there's no Edmonton or Columbus to beef that up. Yes, Byfuglien's absence may hurt us but there are options coach Q can use and when he does, will you be up to the task? My worries are with our D (will they finally start taking the body on forwards coming into our zone?) and Crawford (how many games in a row can he play?)

I really have to emphasize the discipline thing. The Hawks won the last two rounds against Vancouver by effectively playing agitator. The Canucks had a lot of players who got goaded into getting emotional very easily. Once it happened, the Canucks lost focus, the game broke down and the Hawks were able to capitalize. Take away Byfuglien running the net, Shane O'Brien constantly looking for a fight, and Andrew Alberts taking as many minor penalties as he could manage, and then add in much more mature versions of Kesler and Burrows and the stoic leadership of the Sedins, and you have a totally different situation. Luongo may be a great leader in the locker room, but on the ice having a goalie captain is just a big mistake, and it showed.

The Canucks have no problem dealing with a seven-game series. They've made it past the first round every time they've made the playoffs under Alain Vigneault. The question is whether they can stick to their game against a team that loves to distract them, and this year they can.

Speculations. You are talking about the way your team played in the regular season. See you on Wednesday. 1287.gif

No, I'm talking about the way the two teams played last playoffs and how they've changed since then.

Luongo has been a psychological weakling in the playoffs as far as I can remember. Sedins, also. You got a good doctor on staff now? Where is this new discipline coming from? Anyway, that's not even my main point in all of this. Here it is: THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN TAKE US OUT IS BY PLAYING A TIGHT (Minnesota, Nashville, NewJersey) CHEKING GAME. If you decide to go the free wheeling route, you'll get burned.

Again: 14 points in 12 games last playoffs for each Sedin. Absolutely nothing weak about that at all.

Why does Vancouver need to play a tight game? Because the Hawks are fast and offensively potent? Have you seen the Canucks' scoring lines lately? They don't need to resort to a tight-checking, low-scoring affair when they can beat the Hawks at their own game. Obviously Luongo will need to be in top form, but again: this year's Lu is not last year's Lu. It's not unreasonable to expect a different performance this time. And even then, he was lights-out last playoffs until he ran into Byfuglien (or rather, Byfuglien ran into him. Constantly. Without getting called).

Again, that was L.A. eyesre4.gif You keep mentioning Byfuglien. We have Kopecky, Bickel or Dowell that can have a go at Luongo now. 1287.gif And don't forget Bolland. pokey.gif You want a speed contest? Ouch! dazed025.gif

Byfuglien was uniquely good at it. As for speed, how about Kesler, Raymond, Higgins, Burrows, Hansen, and Ballard? Talk about guys that can blow through three zones before you can say "WTF?". If Keith isn't in Norris form, watch out...

Pens and Sharks? Really?
No Malkin, No Crosby.
And even if the sharks made it out of the rest they're gonna be beat the hell up

Crosby might be back for the playoffs. Malkin might be done his career.

Who knows what will happen? The Hawks may come out on Wednesday the way they did against the Wings last friday (every time a Wing got the puck, there was a Hawk on him) It was like watching one of those nature programs when lions jumped on antelopes. Or they may look like they did yesterday, lack of aggressiveness, hoping for a 0-0 tie. This is a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde team. Anyway, you don't wanna listen to how I think you can beat the Hawks? Suit yourself.

Hawks Fan Here!!!! I'm liking this arguement you guys going on here! I've got tickets for Game 4 at the UC. Can't wait. I will say, I hate the Canucks but what Blackhawks fan doesn't. The playoffs are a whole other story than the regular season is.

Lucky guy to get those tickets. trink39.gif Experts have us out in 5 games. Game one will be huge. Torres will be out, Alberts is a question mark and Samuelsson is not feeling well. If we could somehow get Bolland back, that would be a big help. Coach Q said today the Hawks will get more physical (last game hits: Detroit 35 Hawks 15) fing.gif We have to do a better job in that department. Datsyuk was a highlight film yesterday because noone would hit him. angry.gif Unleash the pain. 1287.gif

They've got a few days to rest up. Lucky for them, they know the Canucks. Those key guys who are out will help for sure. I really hope Bolland is back soon. We could use him. Any word on Brouwer? And yeah, good call on the hits. Yesterday was pitiful.
