All their albums are good, except for Mardi Gras, their last one. I wouldn't say that they have one essential album. Green River is my personal favorite. Wrote A Song For Everyone, Lodi, and Green River are 3 of my favorite songs by them.

If you really only like a few songs, then a greatest hits/live album is all you need.

It's a shame if you don't have this, easily their best and a true classic:

Jeez, the first song Ramble Tamble and their 11 minute version of I Heard It Through the Grapevine are my very favorite Creedence songs, neither of which are on the best of - both of these songs are absolute killers. And the whole album smokes from top to bottom. yes.gif 1022.gif

Ramble Tamble:

The way the song slows down and speeds up is out of control great. It still blows my mind.

I Heard It Through the Grapevine:

You thought you knew this song? They kick its ass into next Tuesday. An 11 minute song that feels like 3 - amazing grooves and solos that everyone needs to hear at least once. yes.gif

I love CCR and have every album, and almost every LP, even a couple live albums. But I do think that maybe both of the Chronicles is probably all that a casual fan would need. I love their simplicity, sometimes less is more, ya know.

I love Creedence!

Yeah, you can't go wrong with any of their first six albums. And being they only released seven albums, that says A LOT!

My favs are Willy and the Poor Boys and Green River.

Great, great band.

Yeppers. 1000%.

If all you have is "Chronicle" you're missing out on the great album tracks from COSMO'S FACTORY, WILLY & THE POOR BOYS, BAYOU COUNTRY and GREEN RIVER. At the very least. smile.gif

[The Album is 'Cosmo's Factory' btw].This was the first Creedence Album I heard all the way through. My Sister's friend Elsie had it and they both taught me 'The Funky Chicken' with this album...Had been a fan since first hearing them in '68 on the radidio... This song, 'Susie Q' 'Up Around The Bend', 'Sweet Hitch Hiker', 'Green River' The 45, 'Have You Ever Seen The Rain' backed with 'Hey Tonight', 'Born On The Bayou', 'Lookin' Out My Back Door' I have the whole studio collection. Not much into live stuff except for RUSH, Kansas, Blue Oyster Cult, Cheap Trick, Chicago, etc.

My band opened up for the Revisited version back in 96. Because the general public, for the most part doesn't know who individual band members are, they were able to fill the Dee Event Center in Ogden Utah, which holds about 10,000 people. I'm guessing at least 9000 of them had no clue that John Fogerty was the heart of CCR and was not involved. The drummer was a really nice guy, and they had Elliot Easton from the Cars playing lead guitar for them. It was fun to be able to say I've done an arena show as well. They offered us a slot the next night in Boise but two of the guys couldn't make it.
