They're an interesting band for sure. Kind of a cross between Genesis and Pink Floyd. Here's an interesting tidbit: Marillion was conceived as Silmarillion, "after J.R.R. Tolkien's book The Silmarillion." (Answers.com) J.R.R Tolkien once wrote that "cellar door" is the most beautiful combination of sounds in a language (see also Donnie Darko), but I'm of the opinion that "gilded cage" is more beautiful.
