So, we were in Hawai'i for our anniversary (#31) and went out to the new Sam Choy's place. On the slope on Hualalai, it has a magnificent view of the bay. We went at sunset:

The soup and salad are served as a matter of course to everyone. They were both quite yummy - the soup was a kim-chee cream. Sounded dodgy to me but I gave it a try and it was good, if a tad spicy.

I'll only post one food pic because I can't size them and don't want to have a giant post. This is the seafood lau-lau - a Hawaiian method of cooking in ti leaves. It keeps the meat very juicy and tender:

Since it was our anniversary, we got a comp dessert. We chose the waffle-fried ice cream. Ono!

So if you are ever on the Kona coast, drop in for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Yeah, the prices are a bit on the high side but it's worth it for both the food and the view. cool.gif
