Does anyone have a Bengal cat? I'm going to get one in a month or so but I just wondered if anybody had any experiences with them.

 

I would like to respectfully request that you rethink your desire for a Bengal cat. They are hybrids, bred from wild x domestic cat crosses, and hybrids do not make good pets. Please read/watch the following:

 

Savannah Cats and Bengal Cats Make Bad Pets (they talk about savannah cats but the issues are the same with any hybrid)

 

The Case Against Hybrids

 

Also, if you give a home to a hybrid cat it means there is one less home available for a shelter or rescue cat. Please consider adopting a cat from a shelter instead and save its life.

That only applies to the early generation Bengals that are closer to the Asian Leopard Cat. The one that I'm considering is many generations removed. I'm buying this to be a show cat so I'm not interested in a rescue cat. Completely different thing. And actually there is a big difference between Savannahs and Bengals. The wildcat that is used with the Savannah is a Serval which is a lot bigger wild cat than your domestic variety. Female domestic cats can be killed by breeding them with the Serval. (Size difference, gestational time is different...etc.) The Asian leopard cat is a much smaller cat more the size of a domestic so it's a little different when you're breeding with a Bengal. But anyway, I have researched this thoroughly so I'm not totally ignorant. I just wondered if anybody had had one before.

Geez I am such a sucker . My son and his girlfriend found this little one at his girlfriends house wandering around outside and scared. They live out in the country and there are alot of cats running

It's been pretty tough on us. Her name was Anfisa and was 12yrs.old. When I first met my girlfriend the cat and I did not get along at all. After about a year or so we started to get along. She ended up being my little buddy. She always greeted me at the door when I came home and within seconds after going to bed she would be there with me. She died on my pillow.

It's been pretty tough on us. Her name was Anfisa and was 12yrs.old. When I first met my girlfriend the cat and I did not get along at all. After about a year or so we started to get along. She ended up being my little buddy. She always greeted me at the door when I came home and within seconds after going to bed she would be there with me. She died on my pillow.

I think I ran ouf them early today. Getting ready for the BOC/BTO concert at the Alaska State Fair. I'm really not in the mood to go but girlfriend is insisting I go.

I'm glad my girlfriend insisted I go to the concert last night. I really needed that. I posted some pics. over in the concert thread. Feeling bad for our other cat Lucky also know as "sh**head". :P He and Anfisa had there little fights but he misses her. Just seems weird with her not around any more.
