Since we didn't see Carl bitten by a walker I'll withhold believing he's going to die. Maybe he was bitten by a savior.

Over extended finale as the story it told easily could have fit into a normal 1 hour runtime. Rolling my eyes at the slow-mo closeups of people's faces. I get it, AMC wants to get every drop out of this cow so told the show makers to extend the episode by half an hour so they can sell more ad time.

The writing was once again hilariously bad. So Negan wants the 3 leaders (Rick, the King and the 'widow') caught so he can kill them to make an example of them to everyone else to not rebel in the future. So what do we see? Simon puts up a roadblock stopping Maggie and her convoy. Instead of trying to fight, change course, etc. they just stop and let Negan's men take them. Simon then shoots a random redshirt who happens to be in the car with Maggie and Jesus. (he actually had a line a short time earlier and even had his name mentioned-- Neil). Then Simon let her go. WTF? Was Simon not paying attention to Negan's wishes?

Believe it. It’s one of the show’s ways to split from the comics.

Carl was maybe bitten by Judith?

I’m sorry but Rick wasting time with the Garbage Pail Kids and they let him walk? I may not watch anymore.

Last season was crap! It was becoming crap even before that though.

I’m reading all spoilers now.

This season was marginally better than last season but I feel the writers have lost it.

I'm just getting totally fed up with Negan and his smug, grinning, twattish face.....They've had numerous opportunities to waste the prick, and deliberately squandered them all

FFS, he's just a c*** with a baseball bat....somebody end him before I kill myself.

Is it wrong that I'm happy a certain someone is doomed?

Yes the writing has taken a dramatic downturn the last couple of seasons.

time to replace that hack Scott Gimple.

Amen, Brother! Bring back Frank Darabont.

Okay, so I didn't watch anything past the season premier of the first half of this season. You know when they had Negan in front of a few dozen assault rifles and opted not to shoot him in the head? Yeah that one.

So the rest of it is on the DVR. Do I watch it, or delete it?

THe only thing worth your time, the entire season, is the shot where Rick has a helocopter flying over his head. That gives you hope that the freaking Walking Dead story will improve.

Gabriel should've wasted that bastard...he had the chance. If you've read the comic, you know that we're gonna have Negan around for awhile.

A major problem with the season 8 premier (among many problems): Rick has said a couple of times that he was going to kill Negan. Then the scene was setup with Negan sauntering out unprotected in full view with a few of his lieutenants and turncoats Gregory and Eugene. Nothing was killed except all the glass windows on that side of the building. For a group that didn't have any bullets a couple episodes back Rick's crew sure wasted a lot without hitting anyone.

Those morons waste far too much ammo. They are at war and they need to start acting like professionals, raid a store that sells books and/or dvds on tactical training and raid a military base and take all of the manuals about tactics. Take also dummy guns and knives and get to training. You can bet the ranch that's what I'd be doing, training like my life depended on it. Because at that point it would.

You already do those things Jack. And there is no zombie apocalypse! :P

Nah, my complaint isn't that the characters should do those things and aren't. My complaint is Rick is doing things which isn't in his character after all he's been through and has already done. Blubbering like that? Quitting? He might've cried and given up vs an enemy in season 1 or possibly even in 2 when he was inexperienced with murdering and misery. But now (beginning of season 7 that is)?! He had already given up before Abraham was bashed. Rubbish.

Unrelated:

- I thought the show truly was crap at mid-season of season 6 I think it was. A zombie horde had slipped into Alexandria and Rick went outside to hack at them solo. He was soon joined by all of the Alexandria citizens. And there's a closeup shot of each citizen hacking at some zombie with these cheesy looks of anger and determination. Visually, it was extremely, unintentionally B-movie looking.

- I wished they'd kill Carl. He feels like a side character that should be trashed.

- Actually, I haven't even seen most of season 7 but when is baby Judith going to not be a baby? Since Carl has naturally aged, she should too. It's like her first year of infancy has lasted four years! :P

In the JohnnyBlaze Walking Dead series this is who'd die or would already be dead (if one or some of these characters actually died in season 7, don't tell me):

Carl, baby Judith, Rosita, Tara

I only dislike Carl but the other 3 don't do much to serve the overall story IMHO. And when they have had their shining moments, it's not too interesting.

I was good with Sasha being killed off as I didn't like her. But what a shitty way to off her. No pay off whatsoever.

And if we were living during the zombie apocalypse you'd be doing those things, too!!!

I don't want to see them doing weeks of military training no matter how much they should if it all were real.

Really? It'd at least show they're taking their own survival seriously instead of rushing headllong into everything as well prepared as a cocker spaniel would be for a calculus exam.

I'm saying the kind of training that you're talking about doesn't have to be drawn out or labored over. It can be done in a 5-7 minute montage. Or over the course of half or less of ONE episode. (Think Rocky movies.)

I'm positive more than 75% of fans don't want to see Carl learn how to fire a gun or tie a knot for half a season

I wouldn't mind a montage, it would be better than nothing.

The show is seriously jumping the shark. At this point I enjoy Fear The Walking Dead more.

It ain't jumping it...it's humping it...for every nickel it's worth

The comics don’t matter to the show anymore since people on the show have died when they shouldn’t have, lived when they shouldn’t have, and existed in the first place when they don’t in the comics

Also, we saw it when he was helping that guy in the woods. I thought he was bitten, but just figured I was wrong when the show didn’t bring it up.

I haven’t watched this funeral dirge to nowhere since Neagan bashed in Glen’s dome.

If...IF...Carl isn’t dead and that isn’t a zombie bite then Gimple & Co. are trolling the FÜCK out of what fans remain of this dumpster fire.

It’s saying something when the reviews for Fear The Walking Dead are more positive than The Walking Dead. Because FTWD really and truly sucked swollen, infected donkey balls early on.

I saw the first 4 episodes of Fear and was bored shitless. Then, I heard in this thread that it improved a lot so I watched the first four episodes of season 3. It improved but it still had characters that I didn’t care about. I wasn’t AS bored but I won’t continue it.

I'm cautiously optimistic.

‘Walking Dead’ Names Angela Kang Showrunner, Scott Gimple Elevated to Chief Content Officer

The Walking Dead” is shaking things up behind the scenes.

Series showrunner Scott Gimple is being elevated to the newly created role of chief content officer, overseeing the entire “Walking Dead” television universe, including “The Walking Dead,” “Fear the Walking Dead,” and potential brand extensions on a variety of platforms. Angela Kang, who has been a writer on the show since 2011 and co-executive producer since 2013, is being promoted by Gimple to executive producer and showrunner of “The Walking Dead,” starting with Season 9.

In addition, AMC also announced that the show has officially been renewed for a ninth season, to debut in late 2018.

“This is an enormously important day for the entire ‘The Walking Dead’ television universe,” said Charlie Collier, president of AMC, Sundance TV, and AMC Studios. “We are proud to acknowledge Angela’s significant contribution to the series and to set a clear path forward for a ninth season under her direction. Further, with gratitude and admiration, we also recognize Scott’s broad impact on, and leadership of, the content that fuels our TWD universe. Together, we will dream bigger and more broadly than ever before. I know I speak for Angela, Scott and everyone at AMC when I say thanks most of all to the fans and the many talented people who have helped AMC play ‘Dead.’”
