Guess the setlist for the next tour

I see MP being cut to just 3 songs.

Tom Sawyer

YYZ

Limelight or Red Barchetta

I see Presto, Marathon, Time Stand Still, Stick it Out, Leave That Thing Alone all being replaced.

The Analog Kid

Jacobs Ladder

Red Sector A

Distant Early Warning

The Trees

In the set.

Clockwork Angels will all be played in the second set as a huge suite.

I get the feeling Marathon will stay. And hopefully TCE. Maybe Closer to the Heart, depending on how they feel they played it this tour.

Other than that, I can see changes. Probably no TSS, Presto or Stick it Out.

Definitely don't need 2112 again next year. Or Red Barchetta, Witch Hunt, and Vital Signs.

This is a GREAT example of a way to keep the casual fans here for the older stuff.

I like the setlist, sir.

Set 1 comprises of mostly new stuff, while Set 2 digs back. (Although, I would drop Xanadu, for a FULL version of BTATSD, or Cygnus X-1 transposed to fit Ged's vocals accordingly (it would need to be played in D.)

i think i heard alex say they are going to revamp the setlist. laugh.gif
seriously i'm not holding my breath anymore.

My setlist is the only one that is somewhat realistic and it's not even as "revamped" as it seems:

A bunch of staples and recently played songs (9 of these were played on the TM tour):

Far Cry

Marathon

YYZ

Subdivsions

Limelight

The Trees

Freewill

The Spirit of Radio

2112 Overture/Temples

Tom Sawyer

A few songs that haven't been played in a while that are very possible and not too obscure (and some of these were rumored to appear during recent tours):

The Analog Kid - last played 1994

Cold Fire - last played 1994

Show Don't Tell - last played 1994

Test for Echo - last played 1997

A couple of songs that haven't been played in a long long time ("deep cuts"):

The Enemy Within - last played 1984

Jacob's Ladder - last played 1980

A bunch of new songs (and since they seem to like playing a full album block now - S&A 5 songs in a row and MP full to open second set - something like this is very possible:

Clockwork Angels suite - 7 to 8 songs ending with new instrumental

I deliberately made the end of the second set and encore somewhat predictable - just a string of "hits" one after another. And have included virtually no "early" Rush songs.

This one is alot like the one I posted on the 1st page of the thread.

Good to see someone agrees with me on some things.

I like the Bytor/Xanadu/Working Man idea.

Jacob's Ladder would be pretty cool...

And I like the idea of a Hemispheres/Grand Finale combo. I've wanted to see Grand Finale live since I became a fan!

This thread is hilarious.

Here's what will really happen:

Some of the first set S&A material will be swapped with stuff from the new album.

A couple of the other songs, like Time Stand Still or Presto, will be swapped for The Trees or another obscurity, like Ghost of a Chance.

The 2nd set will remain intact from this tour.

They don't spend as much as they did on set decoration and new videos just to trash them all a few months later for a radical departure.

good god i hop you're wrong... unsure.gif

he is wrong, because the next tour will be promoting clockwork angels, not moving pictures.  They will not keep the 2nd set the same because they will be focusing on a new album, not a 30 year old one.

Agree completely. No way in hell they play MP again, which will in turn free up plenty of time for a "new" bunch of tunes.

I completely disagree with those that are saying there will be minor changes to the Time Machine setlist, along with the inclusion of Clockwork tunes. This is a totally new tour, showcasing an actual album, not some Snakes and Arrows second leg "revamp."

The only tour they played all the songs of the most recent album was the Hemispheres tour, but the songs were played on a different order, mixed with the other songs, and Circumstances was not played on every show.

They always refused to admit their albums had any kind of conceptual linkage between songs. This time they are not just presenting CWA as a conceptual suite but they're playing a full album just like it was recorded. Based on that, I strongly believe that the second set of the CWA tour will be the CWA suite.

I think it's great if they do it like this. Of couse I'd prefer they to play the whole Hemispheres or the whole Power Windows. But even if VT or S&A are not a favorite for most fans, one of the reasons we love these guys is because they are still very confident on what they compose and play.
