Packers fear Jared Abbrederis tore his ACL

It looks like Packers wide receiver Jared Abbrederis is going to spend his rookie season on injured reserve.

Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that the Packers believe Abbrederis tore his ACL during practice on Thursday. Abbrederis was headed for more tests on Friday and coach Mike McCarthy wouldn’t confirm anything about the severity of the injury when he met the media.

“I haven’t had time to sit down with the medical staff,” McCarthy said. “Right now, he has a knee. He completed practice yesterday.”

Abbrederis was a fifth-round pick after catching 202 passes during his Wisconsin career and was competing for punt return duties in addition to an offensive role. Now it looks like he’ll have to wait and try his luck again next year.

Read it just a minute ago..... :boohoo: :boohoo: He has often been accused of being "fragile", but torn ACL's can happen to anyone.....

The Pack still have their other rookie WR Davante Adams who was a 2nd round pick not to mention Randall Cobb and Jordy Nelson, plus a good rookie tight end prospect in Colt Lyerla, so I don't think this will make too much difference. All is still well in Pack Land... :sundog:

Damn you're right!

Here we go then...

Look at that the Packers waste another draft pick on a cripple and all they have is a bunch of stone handed nobodies, along with Cobb who is nothing more than a cheap flash in the pan who never did shit after his one lucky season and Jordy "I blackmailed our GM to get that contract" Nelson who is older than Jerry Jones and is just as obsessed with Johnny Manziel's Vegas nightlife activities. :nya nya:

July, 2015: Brett Favre is coming to Titletown, USA, to be inducted in the Green Bay Packer Hall of Fame

http://images5.fanpop.com/image/photos/28700000/Brett-Favre-brett-favre-28759229-540-720.jpg

Most deserving, Favre will be inducted in July, 2015, after the Hall of Fame renovations have been completed. His jersey number 4 will be retired before the kickoff of a Packer home game. The "Favre Era" (1992-2007) is surely one of the most celebrated eras in all of Packer history. What happened after that era is irrelevant in regards to what he did for the Packers during his time. Favre is most deserving of his induction.

Packers waive-injured Colt Lyerla

Tight end Colt Lyerla won’t get a chance to play for the Packers during the 2014 season, but it sounds like they saw enough of him to know that they’d like to see what he can do next year.

Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports that Lyerla said on Tuesday that the team told him that they will be waiving him off the 90-man roster. Lyerla is suffering from a knee injury and the tight end said that the Packers have told him that they want him to spend the year on injured reserve rather than take an injury settlement and become a free agent.

That would depend on whether or not Lyerla clears waivers, of course. That’s well short of guaranteed given the history of teams claiming players that their original teams were trying to stash on injured reserve. Lyerla, who is recovering from a torn MCL and PCL, would seem to be a candidate for such treatment given the impressive athletic ability he showed at Oregon before he was kicked off the team following a drug arrest.

With Lyerla out of the picture, Andrew Quarless, Richard Rodgers and the currently injured Brandon Bostick look like the top choices at tight end for the Packers this season.

This will be a good test for Lyerla. He gets a whole year to rehab, workout, and mature some more. Hope he takes advantage of the opportunity!

Just saw that Raji is confirmed out for the year. The only significant thing that can happen in the preseason is bad...and it's this type of injury.

It is not confirmed. Raji still has to undergo tests. The Packers haven't said anything official about Raji's status yet.

 ESPN and other "league sources" do not speak for the Packers. They do not determine if/when players are out for the year.

The Packers will decide if/when B.J. Raji is done for the year. If it does happen, they will probably wait until the final 53-player roster is determined before they place him on IR.

The Packers reached the 75-player limit today by placing six players on Injured Reserve:

WR Jared Abbrederis (knee)

OL Don Barclay (knee)

OL Andrew Tiller (calf)

RB Rajion Neal (knee)

DT B.J. Raji (biceps)

LB Joe Thomas (knee)

There is a chance that one player could be given the "designated to return" assignment, but that is unlikely. As the coaches and players like to say, "Next man up!!"....

Starting Lineup (so far):

QB - Aaron Rodgers

RB - Eddie Lacy

FB - John Kuhn

WR - Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb

TE - Richard Rodgers ®

OL - David Bakhtiari, Josh Sitton, Corey Linsley ®, T.J. Lang, Brian Bulaga

DT - Josh Boyd

DE - Mike Daniels, Datone Jones

ILB - A.J. Hawk, Brad Jones

OLB - Clay Matthews, Julius Peppers

CB - Sam Shields, Tramon Williams

S - HaHa Clinton-Dix ®, Morgan Burnett

PK - Mason Crosby

P - Tim Masthay

Andrew Tiller? The Saints drafted him a couple of years ago, he was always on IR when we had him too.

Report: Bryan Bulaga suffers torn MCL

Posted by Mike Wilkening on September 5, 2014, 3:33 PM EDT

http://nbcprofootballtalk.files.wordpress.com/2014/09/cd0ymzcznguwzdbhnduynddiytjhm2yyzthlmtjjotqwyyznptdmngmxyje4y2uzmgzinmzizdmxytgxotq0ndy0ymqy-e1409945530453.jpeg?w=236

Packers right tackle Bryan Bulaga has reportedly suffered yet another ligament tear in his left knee.

Bulaga sustained a torn MCL in Green Bay’s Thursday night loss at Seattle, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Friday.

According to Schefter, the timetable for Bulaga’s recovery is unclear. The report did not specify the degree of Bulaga’s tear.

The Packers’ first-round pick in 2010, Bulaga missed all of last season because of an ACL tear.

The Packers could now be left with a decision at right tackle. Derek Sherrod, another former first-round pick, struggled in place of Bulaga on Thursday night. If nothing else, the Packers might have to add another tackle for depth. Bulaga, Sherrod and David Bakhtiari are the only tackles currently on the Packers’ roster.

The Packers’ next game is in nine days against the Jets, giving Green Bay time to formulate a plan. And surely the Jets will have a plan, too, one that involves testing the right side of the Packers’ offensive line.

That game sucked in so many ways. The loss I can take, all the injuries and the sloppy look really is hard to take.

Dix needs to figure out how to tackle, quick! And learning how to catch would be a nice bonus too.

Well at least you only have the Jets to worry about next...

Report: Bryan Bulaga suffers MCL sprain

Posted by Mike Wilkening on September 5, 2014, 3:33 PM EDT

The left knee injury suffered by Packers right tackle Bryan Bulaga in Thursday night’s opener at Seattle does not appear to be serious, according to a published report.

Bulaga sustained a sprained MCL in the Packers’ loss to the Seahawks, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Friday. However, Bulaga “should not miss much time” with the injury, Schefter said, quoting an unnamed source.

The Packers’ first-round pick in 2010, Bulaga missed all of last season because of an ACL tear.

Derek Sherrod, another former first-round pick, struggled in place of Bulaga on Thursday night. If Bulaga were to miss any time, the Packers might have to add another tackle for depth. Bulaga, Sherrod and David Bakhtiari are the only tackles currently on the Packers’ roster. The Packers’ next game is in nine days against the Jets, giving Green Bay time to formulate a plan.

UPDATE 4:11 p.m. ET: An earlier version of the story cited an ESPN report that said Bulaga had suffered an MCL tear of unknown severity. It has been updated to reflect that the injury is not reported as a sprain.

Report: Bryan Bulaga suffers MCL sprain

Well, a "sprain" is often a tear of a ligament....

1st degree sprain = Stretching of the ligament fibers

2nd degree = Partial tear of the ligament(s)

3rd degree = A complete rupture of the ligament, sometimes taking bone with it

Offensive linemen are TOUGH. Many of them play all year long with sprained knees and ankles, so hopefully Bulaga can get by on his...... :ebert:
