The Doctor Who thread.

It's all personal taste. For me, he's fast becoming my favourite of the 21st century Doctors...moreso this season, now they've toned down some of his unpleasantness from last year, and made him a bit friendlier. They've still kept the unpredictability, which I love. The same sort of unpredictability I associate with Tom Baker.

I actually loved his rudeness, made him more alien

I think he's still got the rudeness in him...well, it's more that he doesn't really know how to relate to people at times, or doesn't have the patience to try. But they've started to mix in other qualities.

I'm thinking of the bit in "Under the Lake" where he's so excited about the ghosts, that he needs cue cards in order to show any sympathy for the loss of their friend/family member/pet

Last night's episode was probably the best for a long while...and I've really enjoyed most of this season

I have too, a real return to some of the great stuff they had in series 5-6. They've really redeemed themselves for the last season and a half

I liked the first 20-or-so minutes...and LOVED seeing the 60's TARDIS interior...but then it became ALL about Clara again :rage: There was no need to bring her back. Face the Raven was a good ending for her. It was a good end to her character arc, with her dying due to thinking she was as good as the Doctor. Reversing that spoilt it. Now she basically IS the Doctor, with her own TARDIS.

I was still hoping that at the end, the Raven would show up at the diner

It had so much potential, hell he could have brought Clara back just to have her say "Hey you've gone too far! I must make things right and die!". Then have another goodbye and have her do the right thing. Save time from fracturing and stop the Doctor from becoming Victorious again...

I recently got Hulu and discovered they have a few hundred episodes from Doctors 1-7 on there. I've never seen them before so I started out with "The Time Warrior" with the Third Doctor and the debut of Sarah Jane

The Time Warrior is a good one. Also the first Sontaran story (interesting fact, the emphasis was originally meant to be SONT-a-ran, but due to the fact that he was being played by an Australian, he put the accent on the Sont-Ahh-ran...when the writer tried correcting him, he replied "Listen, mate, I'm from the sodding planet. I know how it should be pronounced!" So his pronunciation won  )

Another interesting fact: Hal the Archer is played by the original Boba Fett

I loved last season's finale, and though Clara's arc was teriffic. She was always a Doctor in training, and her conclusion was for that to essentially happen. I already miss her.

And I am most certainly NOT sold on Bill right now. The whole Professor Doctor thing...ugh. Not digging the turn its taking.

Why doesn't Your Lion post in here anymore? Did he find a cure for his Who addiction?

 The thread has been pretty quiet, hasn't it.

I enjoyed the opener.

I liked Bill. I was a bit unsure about her from the introductory clip last year, I thought she was a bit too jokey for being in a life and death situation, so when I heard that clip was going to be crowbarred into the episode, I thought it would feel tonally out of place....except most of the scene was cut...only the "What's a Dalek" line remained...I was relieved.

Oh, and incidentally...perhaps you wouldn't mind checking out my Doctor Who sketches. I posted the Doctors a while back, but I've since done all the companions (from 1963 up to Clara) and all the Masters.

I'd be happy if you'd take a look :)

Great cliffhanger!

As a big fan of the 60s Cybermen (particularly those original cloth-faced Cyberman), I've been really looking forward to seeing them again this year. They built them up to them nicely over the episode, with some really creepy and effective moments.

I want to be careful with spoilers, but that disguise was a great nod to Anthony Ainley's Master of the 80s.

Looking forward to seeing how this gets resolved

This wasn't the season finale was it? I thought there was one more episode left.

Yeah, there's still one more. The Doctor Falls.
