A question for the ages...

So, I have to know... is it pronounced PERT, or PEERT?

I've heard it both ways from multiple sources and so I'm not really sure what to believe.

(I know it's probably been asked before, the search turned up no results.)

I've heard it pronounced both ways and I used to wonder but anymore I don't care. He's awesome; regardless of how he pronounces his last name.

It's not "PERT" (rhymes with "hurt"). What I'm not sure about is if it's PEERT ("peer") or PEART ("pear").

It's the long e sound. I remember someplace Neil said it should be pronounced like "ear."

If you're from the US it's pronounced Pert. If you are from Canukistan you pronounce it Peert. Pretty much sums it up.

Ah........another wise ass eh?

As someone already said, Neil himself said it's pronounced "peert". Also, I remember watching one of the concert videos once (ESL if I'm not mistaken) and Geddy introducing Neil as Neil "Peert".

Sorry. I was being a smart ass. A question for the ages. Chicken or the egg? I thought the whole "Pert" or "Peert" thing was sufficiently explained. I'll refrain from obtuseness in future postings. ph34r.gif

Is it WHY-WHY-ZEE or WHY-WHY-ZED? unsure.gif

THAT is the real question for the ages. tongue.gif

In the UK and Canada, it is Y-Y-Zed.

In the US, it is YYZ.

Easy!

Too bad they didn't address this in the doc! laugh.gif

I forget who, but one of the celebrity guys says PERT. I think it was Jack Black. I cringed. There for all time, in the band's own documentary - and the dude f*cks it up. He's blacklisted, no doubt.

Dude is a weirdo anyway. I don't think I laughed once at his antics during the doc.

He also said "Pert" in School of Rock. I'm sure 80% of the world has seen that movie, and now everyone knows him as "Pert". Oh well. At least he's getting some recognition wink.gif
