If you fellas are anything like me, you were immensely excited for Jacob's Ladder.  What teases those Rush guys are.

Is this why everyone's dissapointed, no JL?

Was LVS even on the radar?

I would much rather have LVS than JL.  JL is a great album track, but I have to wonder how well it would work live.

Don't get me wrong, LVS is an incredible addition, but it may not even be played in full and was brought out a couple tours ago (not exactly shocking news).  The first set leaves something to be desired though.

.....and still fans bitch and whine.  laugh.gif

You don't understand a setlist, do you? Sure, those songs are great, and if they were scattered, possibly pants-wetting. But the first set is so incredibly boring! I guarantee you people will be zoning out like nothing at the show. Especially the casual fans.

yeah let's make a setlist for the casual fans......

Give me a break. This is possibly the most non-casual Rush show they have put out. The only bad thing is, the songs they picked for the true fans are rubbish.

Nah, I understand setlists. I also understand Rush fans. Hence my laughing emoticon. I remain amused.

That said, it's not a list I would have crafted. But I'm not Rush in rehearsals so... *shrugs*

I'm not hating it, but I'm not loving it either.  There are some odd choices, to say the least.  But, until they perform the actual concert I'm not losing any sleep over it.

Seems strange to have so much love for the late 80' and early 90's with songs 2 to 5 representing hold your fire, presto, counterparts and roll the bones all in row?

I dunno, I think this first set has more "hits" and uptempo songs than the S&A first set:

S&A 2007:
Limelight
Digital Man
Entre Nous
Mission
Freewill
The Main Monkey Business
The Larger Bowl
Secret Touch
Circumstances
Between The Wheels
Dreamline

TM:
The Spirit of Radio
Time Stand Still
Presto
Stick It Out
Leave That Thing Alone
Workin' Them Angels
Faithless
BU2B
Freewill
Marathon
Subdivisions

The only potential I see for a lull is having WTA and Faithless back-to-back.

Yes, this is the only part of the Set List I'm a little blah on....but I'm not a huge fan of Snakes and Arrows, and knew it would have representation so no worries..

The rest of it is really cool to see though..Presto, Marathon, Leave that Thing Alone from the "vault"...La Villa, Working Man, all of MP, and CTTH, Freewill, Spirit of Radio for the casual fans.

I think it's a great mix!

Trying not to let all the usual buzzkillers bug me. I just keep telling myself that no matter the setlist, you're gonna have a group whine, just the way it is with the Internet

The first set of S&A had a much better flow. I think this will be fine though. I really like the set list.

the time machine is malfunctioning!!!!  tongue.gif

heh, yeah...the time machine is apparently only capable of FOUR stops prior to 1980, and ALL of these have been played on the last 2 or 3 tours:

2112
Closer To The Heart
La Villa
Working Man

Me thinks they might have set the bar for expectations a bit high naming
the tour "The Time Machine"...?

I hope this is wrong. Or they at least forgot to write down Jacobs Ladder or something. The rest of the songs I'm thrilled about, but Jacob's Ladder was the song I've been dreaming of since 2007 sad.gif

I could do without Presto and Stick it Out, kind of a bummer but whatever the rest is good.

Happy about Faithless and Marathon.

Time stand still is pretty cool.

2nd set is standard and good.

If people are so upset at this set list, you can certainly send me your tickets instead of tearing them up  wink.gif

The one constant that keeps me interested in Rush through the years is their willingness to change...even if it's not the most popular change at the moment. So if they throw a few curveballs with the set list, I'd say go for it and I'll still enjoy the concert.

If you want to be sticks-in-the-mud about setlists, then go see a Ted Nugent concert. His schtick hasn't changed in 30 years.

I'm pretty sure this isn't the set. Neil DID confirm MalNar and what would be the motivation to drop it? I have no sources, but I'm positive this is fake

11 songs I've never seen then play before, a few of which (Presto, Time Stands Still, Marathon) are among my very favorites.

I would say I'm surprised by the reaction on here, except I'm not.
